Chapter 107: Right and Proper

Dexter removed his legs from the table, revealing stacks of bills. His lecherous gaze fixed on Hilda, he declared, "I don't like dealing with men. If you want the money back, leave the woman and go. I promise to repay my company's debt."

Hilda, stricken, darted behind Jared.

Dexter guffawed at her fear. "It's only right and proper to repay one's debts. No matter who collects, you pay!" Jared asserted coldly.

Dexter eyed him contemptuously. "Right and proper? You must be new. Didn't your colleagues warn you about collecting from me?"

"They did, but I didn't believe them. I wanted to try my luck." Jared nodded.

"Hah! First time I've met someone so bold. Since you want to try your luck, I'll grant your wish!" Dexter swung his fist at Jared's face.

Seeing this, Hilda anxiously pulled at Jared, trying to pull him away. Troy quickly took two steps back, fearing the crossfire. But Hilda couldn't move Jared. He smirked, and as Dexter's fist neared, he grabbed it. A sickening crack echoed as bones shattered.

Dexter cried out in agony. The girl who'd led them upstairs spun and ran, clearly to summon help.

After restraining Dexter, Jared told Troy, "Go bag the money with Hilda. Take only the exact amount owedโ€”nothing less."

Troy froze in fear. Hilda, glancing at Jared, hurried to the safety deposit box and began bagging the money. A million dollars was quickly secured. She urged Jared frantically, "Let's go! We have the money!"

A flurry of footsteps sounded. Seven or eight tattooed men rushed upstairs, blocking the door.

"Let Mr. Murphy go, brat! You're courting death!" Lux, a burly man, bellowed, seeing Jared's hold on Dexter.

Ignoring him, Jared slightly increased the pressure on Dexter's hand; more bones snapped. Dexter, sweating profusely and furious, could only roar, "Do as he says!"

The men parted. Jared told Troy and Hilda, "Take the money and go back to the office."

Hilda asked, puzzled, "Aren't you leaving with us, Jared?"

"You two go first. I'll be right behind you."

Hilda looked worried, but Troy urged her, "Let's go! We'll only burden Jared if we stay!"

Dragging Hilda, he ran. She gave him the money to take to the office, then waited across the street, unwilling to leave without seeing Jared go.

Jared released Dexter. Enraged, Dexter screamed, "I'm going to kill you today, brat!"
