Chapter 332: At War With Herself
Jared entered the room to find Tommy lying on the bed, pale, his chest visibly injured, and his body covered in bloodstains. Tommy's eyes flickered open at the sound of footsteps. He tried to rise when he saw Jared but couldn't.
"Don't move. Let me take a look," Jared said, quickly approaching Tommy and placing a hand on his shoulder. His other hand gently examined Tommy's chest. A look of horror crossed Jared's face.
"Mr. Chance, I'm so sorry. I failed to protect Ms. Sullivan," Tommy apologized, his voice laced with guilt.
"It's alright. Rest now. Your opponent was very strong; you were no match for him."
Jared assessed the severity of Tommy's wounds. They were serious, but not fatal. Recovery, however, would be lengthy. Clearly, Wilbur hadn't intended to kill Tommy, only to inflict suffering.
Jared then channeled spiritual energy into Tommy's chest. A wave of warmth surged through Tommy's body, instantly eliminating the pain. His broken ribs mended, his chest fully restored in seconds.
Jared retracted his hand, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. The healing had consumed a massive amount of spiritual energy. Without his energy-condensing pill and Level Nine attainment, the healing would have been impossible in a single treatment.
"I'm done. You can get up now," Jared said, exhaling deeply. He sat in a nearby chair to catch his breath.
Tommy sat up, astonished to find himself almost completely healed, save for a few superficial scratches oozing blood.
"Thank you, Mr. Chance!"
"Your body still needs to recover. Avoid fighting. I'll make you a pill shortly; you'll be fine afterwards."
"All right!"
Zeke, witnessing the miraculous recovery, stared open-mouthed. How? he wondered. An immortal technique? Is Jared immortal?
Unaware of Zeke's thoughts, Jared asked, "What happened? Tell me everything!"
Tommy recounted the events. Learning that the Whitaker family had sent their men, Jared's fists clenched, his expression darkening.
Josephine and Frida entered, alerted by the commotion. "Jared, you're back?" Josephine asked, looking pale.
Jared embraced her immediately. "I'm sorry. It's my fault you went through this. I promised I'd protect you, butโ"
Josephine hushed him, covering his mouth. "I'm fine. Don't blame yourself. Butโฆ Yasminโฆ"
"I know. Tommy told me. I'll save her!" Jared promised, his expression determined.
"Butโฆ won't you be in danger?" she asked, torn. A part of her urged him to save Yasmin, while another part desperately wanted him to stay safe.
