Chapter 355: You Are My Brother-in-Law

"Why didn't you tell us you have a boyfriend, Lizbeth? I could assess him, see if he's a good match. Judging by his clothes, he doesn't look wealthy," Oliver said disdainfully, eyeing Jared from head to toe.

Lizbeth's face flushed crimson. "Shut up! He's not my boyfriend! I don't want to hear another word about it!"

"Oh, please! Why else would you let him in your apartment? You don't even like having me over. Regardless, I need to borrow some money. I'm short."

Lizbeth shook her head. "So am I. Besides, haven't you borrowed enough?"

"I'll tell the family about your boyfriend if you don't lend me money!" Oliver snapped, taking pictures of Jared. "Let's see what they think of your taste in men!"

"I told you, he's just a friend! Delete that picture now!" Lizbeth shouted, trying to grab the phone. Oliver refused.

The siblings chased each other around the apartment while Jared watched, amused.

Oh, how I wish I had younger siblings like that I'd spoil them rotten!

"Fine, I'll give you money if you delete the pictures! How much this time?" Lizbeth panted. She could easily have taken the phone, but she didn't want to hurt him.

"A hundred thousand," Oliver replied with a smirk.

"What?! A hundred thousand? How dare you ask for that? I don't have it!" Lizbeth yelled.

"Then I'll ask my future brother-in-law." Oliver turned to Jared. "Got any money? I can offset it from Lizbeth's betrothal gift if I can't repay you."

Jared laughed. Lizbeth's brother is certainly interesting! Given his relationship with Walter, lending his grandson a hundred thousand was no problem.

"I do. Here, I'll transfer it. In fact, consider it a gift," he said, pulling out his phone.

"Really?" Oliver was shocked.

Jared held up his phone. "Of course! A hundred thousand is nothing to me." It truly was insignificant compared to his bank balance.

Oliver was dumbfounded, seeing the balance. Seconds later, he hugged Jared tightly. "You're my brother-in-law! I'll cut ties with Lizbeth if she replaces you!"

Lizbeth glared, furious. "Don't give him the money, Jared! He'll spend it all!"

Jared ignored her and gave Oliver the money.

"Let's exchange numbers! I'll show you around Summerbank tonight! Everyone knows me here," Oliver said, running off happily after the exchange.

"Why did you give him the money?" Lizbeth asked, slumping onto the couch.

"It's just a hundred thousand! No big deal!"

"That rascal will spend it all on booze and women. That's why my parents don't give him money. I'll pay you back. Let's hope he doesn't run his mouthโ€ฆ" Lizbeth sighed.
