Chapter 395: Rumors
In a Summerbank restaurant, patrons buzzed about Jared's battle with Venicus. Days later, the incident remained a hot topic.
“Jared was unbelievable! He had the Jantz family head on his knees before killing him with a slap! Shame you missed it!”
“That sage-like old man? A mage! He unleashed ghost pets, and Jared swallowed them all!”
“Despite his age, no one in Summerbank could beat him! The Wagner family offered him leadership of the Warriors Alliance, but he refused! Can you imagine?”
“He must be a reincarnated immortal! Several were protecting him in the arena!”
Several young men, enjoying drinks, discussed the arena events. Most hadn't witnessed the fight firsthand, spreading only hearsay. [Remove the distracting website promotion]
A robed man at a nearby table overheard their conversation. He approached, glass in hand.
“Excuse me, I overheard ‘ghosts’ and ‘immortals.’ Sounds interesting,” he said.
The young men looked up. One asked, “You’re not from Summerbank?”
The robed man shook his head. “No, the southwest. I’m here on business.”
“Ah, that explains it! There’s this young man, Jared, maybe twenty. He killed an Internal Energy Grandmaster in one hit! And another guy, Master Venicus—also from the southwest, I hear!” a young man explained.
A cold glint flashed in the robed man's eyes, quickly vanishing. He smiled. “Jared’s powerful if he defeated a Grandmaster. Do you know where he lives?”
“Want to spar? Forget it. He refuses visitors. Many martial arts leaders have tried; all turned away. He's at the Jantz family mansion,” one young man said, pointing.
The robed man glanced coldly at the mansion and left.
Meanwhile, Tommy stood guard outside the Jantz mansion for days. Phoenix had hundreds of men patrolling; Tommy had hundreds more from Horington.
I wonder if Jared's finished his cultivation… Tommy thought, staring at the white fog within the mansion.
The robed man, frowning, observed the mansion from a nearby street. “Powerful… Now Venicus makes sense,” he mumbled, noticing the white fog.
He stepped forward, instantly disappearing and reappearing before the mansion.
“Who are you?” a guard demanded.
