Chapter 130

Roxanne's face flushed crimson when she heard Bruce's words. She finally understood he was testing her, that he didn't want to be intimate. "Bruce, do you dislike me?"

Bruce glanced at her and teased, "Your figure isn't bad! Your skills are great, too!"

"Unfortunately, I'm exhausted today and can't muster the energy," she replied.

"Put your clothes on! Don't catch a cold!" Bruce tossed her clothes at her.

Roxanne decided to be bold. She rushed to him and hugged him, desperately trying to salvage the situation. "Bruce, let me spend the night with you!" she pleaded. "I want to be your woman. I've been too reserved. I've thought this through. I want to be your woman!"

Bruce smiled. He would never touch a woman as hypocritical as her.

"Hurry up and get dressed. I'll have Andy take you home!"

"Bruce" Roxanne bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. "I don't want to go home!"

"Then what do you want?"

"I want you to stay with me!"

"Stop playing games. I'm not in the mood today. We can do it another time!"

"You always say that! But you don't love me anymore. I know it!"

"Say whatever you want." Bruce grabbed his car keys and left without looking back. "Andy, take Ms. Haynes home!"

"Yes, Mr. Everett!"

"Bruce" Roxanne was furious, but he was already gone. She dressed and ran after him, only to find his car had disappeared.

"Ms. Haynes, let me drive you home," Andy offered with a professional smile.

Roxanne angrily stamped her foot. "No need. I can walk myself!"

At the hospital, it was already ten o'clock at night. Joanna remained by Irvin's side, watching over him. She had been running around all day and was extremely anxious.

Seeing Irvin had recovered, she lay down on the bed and fell asleep. She awoke to someone placing a garment on her shoulder. Startled, Joanna opened her eyes. She turned to see Bruce, holding a suit jacket.

Joanna sat up straight. "Bruce, why are you back?"

Seeing her nervousness, Bruce chuckled. "You still owe me a bowl of noodles, remember?"

Joanna frowned. "This is a hospital. I can't make noodles here!"

"When will you make them, then?"

"When my son recovers, I'll make them when I have time!"

Bruce chuckled. "Alright, I'll wait."

"There's nothing else here. You can go home now!"

Raising an eyebrow, Bruce smiled. "No, I want to stay with you."

"I don't need company. It's late. Go get some sleep!"

"Don't worry. I'll make those noodles I promised you!"

"You're so eager to get rid of me? Don't you want to see me?" Bruce stepped forward, hooking his arm around her waist and pulling her close.

"What are you doing? Don't touch me!"

"What's wrong? Can't I even touch you now?"

"You're crazy! Let go of me. This is a hospital! Don't do anything rash here!"

Bruce smiled wickedly and whispered, "So I can do whatever I want once we leave?"

"Are you crazy? Let go! I'm exhausted! I don't have the energy to deal with you!"

Disappointment flickered in Bruce's eyes. "Joanna, are you tired of being with me?"

"Can you stop this? You're putting me under a lot of pressure!"

"Pressure? Be my woman, enjoy my love, and you won't feel any pressure!"

Anger flared in Joanna. "I don't need you! Stay away from me, and don't say those things again!"

"I just want some space. Can you stop interfering in my life?"

Joanna's loud voice woke Irvin. He stirred and opened his eyes weakly. "Mommy!"

Seeing her son awake, Joanna stopped arguing with Bruce and rushed to Irvin. "Irvin, you're awake?"

"Yeah" Irvin blinked tiredly.

Joanna stroked his head. "Baby, are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"

Irvin shook his head. "I'm not hungry." He'd already had glucose.

"Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

"I'm just sleepy. My head hurts."

"It's okay, you've caught a cold. You'll be fine soon."

Irvin nodded. "Okay." He blinked, looking sleepy again.

"Baby, eat something before you sleep, okay? You haven't eaten much today. I'm worried." "Alright!"

Joanna sniffed and kissed his forehead. "Baby, what do you want? Mommy will get it for you."

"I want Mommy's dumplings!"

Joanna was troubled. "We're in a hospital. How can I make dumplings?" But her son wanted them, so she would find a way.

"Alright, let's call Grandma!"

"Yay!"

Joanna covered Irvin with a blanket and left the ward to call Miranda, asking her to go to the 24-hour store for chicken breast and dumpling wrappers.

Overhearing Joanna's gentle tone with Irvin, Bruce felt a pang of jealousy. How can she be so gentle with another man? he thought. Even if it was her son, she should prioritize him.

"I want dumplings, too!"

Joanna's eyes turned cold. "Didn't you want noodles?"

Bruce chuckled. "Dumplings sound better! I changed my mind."

"You're insane," Joanna muttered, calling Miranda.

"Hello, Miranda."

"Yes, Joanna?"

"Go to the 24-hour store and buy chicken breast and dumpling wrappers!"

"Irvin wants dumplings. I'll make them later!"

"No problem!"

"Also, have Kelly come to the hospital to watch Irvin."

"Sure, I'll tell her now!"

"Alright, that's all," Joanna said.

"Okay!"

After hanging up, Bruce followed Joanna back to the ward.

"Bruce, stop following me!"

"I can't. I'm waiting for dumplings!"

"Seriously? You're stealing food from a child?"

Bruce shrugged. "Or make me noodles. That works, too."

Joanna was angry. "I already told you, wait until another day!"

"Since you're cooking, make me noodles, too?"

"After eating, I'll help you watch Irvin!" Bruce smirked.

Joanna glared. "I don't need your help. Go home! Leave me alone!"

Bruce's expression changed. He put his arm around her waist. "Being disobedient again?"

"I like obedient women! If you're disobedient, I'll punish you!"

Joanna was speechless, helpless. "Do what you want!"

"Then give me a kiss."

"I'm not in the mood. Go away."

Bruce's smile froze; his expression darkened. Joanna's heart trembled. She hated him, but angering him had consequences. She tiptoed and kissed his cheek.

Bruce smiled again.

Twenty minutes later, Kelly arrived.

"Ms. Haynes, I'm here!"

"Stay and watch Irvin. I'll go make dumplings and bring them back."
