Chapter 1087

Joe and Skylar appeared as if they were still married; no distance existed between them. Joe even initiated conversation with Skylar. "You don't have to go if you don't want to," he said.

"It's fine," Skylar replied. "It might be good to see her."

Rowan, utterly dumbfounded, swallowed hard as he approached Skylar. Noticing the strong smell of alcohol on him, Skylar glanced at him and, raising an eyebrow slightly, said, "Try to let go."

Rowan, astonished by Skylar's calm demeanor—even more composed than his own—in the face of a similar experience, simply nodded dumbly. "I've let go," he mumbled.

Skylar smiled and nodded. "That's good."

On the rooftop, Jenny, lightly dressed, shivered in the gusts of wind. Forty minutes had passed, yet no one had arrived. Did her life mean so little to them? Did they care at all?

"I'm clearly the victim! I'm so pitiful! Why do they think this is all my fault? It's not my fault!" she cried, her incomprehension evident. She hadn't told anyone else about the incident. Her so-called friends, with whom she'd once shared meals and drinks, had distanced themselves upon learning of her abandonment by Joe and Rowan. They no longer considered her a friend.

This harsh reality was unbearable. "I just don't understand why everyone is treating me like this," she sobbed, her eyes red. She looked down at the ground, aware she would be smashed to pieces if she jumped, and took a step back.

"I've truly lost everything," she muttered, lamenting her situation. "I've lost Joe and Rowan. I've even been used like a toy. What do I have to do to get a better life?"

A sound behind her made her turn. To her surprise, the three of them appeared together. Her eyes first landed on Skylar.

Seeing Skylar's usual radiant appearance—lacking the despair or self-pity one might expect after abandonment—Jenny lashed out. "You and Joe were legally married. You're the legitimate Mrs. Martin. Yet, Joe publicly announced his engagement to someone else. Aren't you angry? Aren't you jealous? Skylar, are you just pretending not to care? Are you secretly happy that Rowan dumped me? Does that make you feel better?"

Jenny's jealousy was palpable. Skylar must be gloating, she reasoned; otherwise, why did she seem so unaffected?

Skylar was speechless, unable to comprehend Jenny's accusations. "Don't judge others by your own standards," she finally replied.

Jenny bit her lip, laughed coldly, and turned to Joe. "Joe, I made one mistake, and you kicked me out, banning me from appearing in front of you. You even let Mr. Edwin bully me. Are you really that heartless?"

Joe's response was flat. "If you had chosen to call the police when he first bullied you, he wouldn't have had the chance to bully you again."
