Chapter 1153
Skylar almost spoke, but Edgarโs look stopped her. With him present, she knew heโd inform her immediately of any developments regarding Gloria. She smiled warmly, agreeing with Gloria and enjoying lunch and a pleasant walk with her. At 1:00 p.m., after Gloria napped, Skylar left Pearlhall Residence for Sullance Group.
There was no urgent business, but she decided to stop by since it was en route. Janine was truly remarkable, a brilliant woman running Sullance Group flawlessly. Entering, Skylar silently acknowledged her good fortune in having such a mother. Janine, at fifty, possessed the beauty of a woman in her forties. Close inspection revealed few wrinkles on her smooth, fair skin; her refined features and complexion perfectly suited a high-level executive. Her beauty was undeniable.
Skylar reflected that Janine, now older, deserved happiness beyond her career. Widowhood shouldn't preclude love; no one said women her age couldn't fall in love. Skylar and her siblings often wished for companionship for Janine, their busy lives preventing them from spending much time with her. They longed for her to find a caring partner.
Lost in thought, Janine approached with two design sketches. โSkye, what are you daydreaming about? I called your name several times.โ
Skylar returned to the present. โI was admiring you, Mom. Youโre so beautiful! Even compared to those over-forty celebrities with all their facelifts, youโre far younger and prettier.โ
Janine chuckled. โFlattering! But seriously, since youโre here, let me show you Murielโs designs. Sheโs been working on them based on our specifications for a couple of days now.โ
Skylar examined the sketches. Murielโs work was captivating; both the emerald ring and necklace designs were eye-catching and fresh, a compelling fusion of ancient and modern styles.
Janine exclaimed, โWhere did you find this talent? Iโve hired three designers, and none compare. She's serious and composed for someone so young.โ
As Skylar photographed the designs, she quipped, โSeems I have an eye for talent.โ
โAbsolutely! You have an eye for greatness,โ Janine beamed. Skylar, internally, considered herself exceptional.
Skylar glanced at Muriel, who, with her back turned, remained unaware of Skylar's arrival. Respecting the ongoing livestream, Skylar didn't interrupt. Once in her car, she texted Lizzie photos of the designs: โMuriel is incredibly talented.โ Seeing the sketches, Lizzieโs gaze lingered on the signature: โMuriel Sandoval.โ
