They couldn't return the money. Amelia needed surgery, and their savings were depleted. They couldn't repay Skylar.

Skylar was cruel.

Amelia clutched Christopher's arm, hurrying him away. Christopher's eyes were red with anger, his face pale. He glared resentfully at Joe.

"Mr. Martin, are you really keeping a homewrecker?"

"Why? Do you think you can replace me? Who do you think you are? You're nothing compared to me."

Paul rolled his eye. Not everyone could handle this job. He was exceptional, and he'd worked hard to become Joe's assistant. He felt Christopher was insulting him. Many would kill for this job, but Christopher, so useless, thought he could simply take it.

Christopher's face paled further. Skylar's cold gaze felt like an enemy's. He realized she hated him and no longer wanted a relationship.

Panicked, he pleaded, "Skye, let's talk somewhere quiet."

"No need. Stay out of my life," Skylar said emotionlessly. Gripping her medical report, she walked away.

Passing Joe, she paused, turning to Paul. "Thanks."

"Uh, you're welcome," Paul replied.

Christopher started after her, but Amelia stopped him. "We took her money. Do you really want to repay it all?"

Watching Christopher's face, she said softly, "If you can't let her go, give her time to cool off. Then you can talk."

"She loved me. This is a misunderstanding," Christopher gritted his teeth.

Joe shot Christopher a cold glance and walked away. Paul scoffed in disgust as he passed. Love? He couldn't believe it.

Even in the car, Paul complained, "Christopher is shameless."

Joe lit a cigarette, rolling down the window. After smoking, he said, "I don't want to see Christopher in this city again. Make it happen."

Paul was stunned. Joe didn't want Christopher in the city? This meant no company in Jipsburg City would hire him; he wouldn't be able to work there.

Paul understood Joe's secret. He cared about Skylar; this was his revenge on Christopher.
