Chapter 1190

Vera had exhausted all other options. Ultimately, she could only turn to Skylar for help.

Her grandfather and uncle firmly believed Ursula and her mother were in the wrong. They considered the mother and daughter ordinary people; their attracting such attention meant they shouldn't have resisted or harbored resentment. Seeking forgiveness from a deceased woman and a young woman was, therefore, unthinkable. To them, it was tantamount to a death sentence.

This avenue was completely blocked, leaving them with no alternative. All their hopes rested on Skylar. Denton believed Skylar possessed a solution and that sufficient money would secure their desired outcome.

After hearing Vera's plea, Skylar replied directly, "Sorry, I can't help you. Besides sincere repentance and seeking forgiveness, there's no other way. This is the only path open to you."

Vera sighed deeply, feeling utterly helpless. "Is there truly no other way?"

Skylar simply hummed in response.

With no options remaining, Vera hung up the phone in frustration. Looking at her father, she said with a heavy heart, "Dad, besides the method I just mentioned, there's no other way. Grandpa and Uncle Marlon have no choice."

Buck nodded gravely. "Alright, I understand. You've done your best; that's enough. Now, we can only hope your grandfather and uncle will come to their senses."

Vera nodded, her eyes reddened. The pain of watching her relatives reach this point was palpable. Even knowing what they needed to do, they couldn't bring themselves to act. Perhaps this was the fate they had chosen.

In the hotel suite, blackout curtains obscured all light. The room was dimly lit. A man lay asleep on the bed, his brow furrowed. Sweat suddenly beaded on his forehead, and he abruptly opened his eyes.

Even in the dim light, he recognized the hotel suite.

The man awoke fully. His dream had featured a thick white mist, behind which stood a woman who constantly gazed at him. He couldn't see her face clearly, yet felt she was deeply significant. For three years, he'd had this dream frequently. Since arriving in Jipsburg a few days ago, however, it had plagued him almost nightly. Each time, the woman's face remained obscured just as he thought he'd see it.

The man rose, opened the curtains, and a knock sounded at the door.

"Ned, are you awake?"

A woman's voice called softly from outside, careful not to disturb him. He, however, maintained strict self-discipline, waking precisely at his appointed time. He could handle any difficult task without visible stress.

Hearing the woman's voice, his expression softened slightly. He walked to the door and opened it.
