Chapter 1287
Besides worrying about his own career, Charles worried about his sister. Skylar told him that Ned was actually Joe.
Charles's eyes widened. "Is he really Joe? Are you sure?"
If Ned was indeed Joe, it would be like a movie plot. He'd recently received a script about identity-switching revenge, but hadn't read it, considering the premise far-fetched. Now, real life mirrored fiction.
"I'm 99 percent sure," Skylar confirmed.
Charles took a deep breath. "I need a few bites of food to process this."
After eating and drinking, he continued, "So, he really lost his memory and doesn't remember anything? Or is he deliberately hiding his identity?"
"If he's pretending, he's incredibly cunning. You don't have to pursue him. You're beautiful and capable, with plenty of admirers. But if he truly lost his memory, that's a different story," Skylar replied.
She wasn't boasting; she was genuinely exceptional. Several colleagues had asked for her number. But to Charles, none were good enough for Skylar. Since Joe, everyone else seemed inadequate. He'd raised his standards without realizing it.
Skylar chuckled. "There aren't so many conspiracies. I've already checked the hospital records from Ned's car accident. He did suffer memory loss."
No wonder Charles had such an active imagination; he was an actor, after all.
"If it's memory loss, that's easier to deal with. He'll probably regain his memory someday. But have you considered his fiancรฉe?" Charles asked.
Skylar shook her head. "I haven't thought that far ahead. I'll return to Murida first and take it one step at a time."
"In my opinion, his fiancรฉe must be deceitful. Even if two people look alike, their personalities differ. How could she not notice anything?" Charles analyzed.
The thought of Skylar facing such a woman made him uneasy. He'd encountered many such women in the entertainment industryโeach more troublesome than the last. They always claimed innocence while blaming others, setting traps. He always wished to avoid them. Their presence even affected his appetite.
Skylar nodded. "Charles, your analysis makes sense."
"Of course. When you're in Murida, keep me updated. I'll help you figure things out," Charles said, still worried. If his schedule weren't so full, he would have gone with her.
An hour later, Skylar left the set and went home. She'd told Janine she'd be cooking dinner, so she bought ingredients on her way.
After dinner, Janine said, "Don't go back today. Just stay over."
"How did you know I wanted to stay?" Skylar asked, smiling.
Janine paused, then laughed. "Well, we're mother and daughter. I also noticed you're planning to return to Murida in the next few days, aren't you?"
"Mom, you're right. My flight is tomorrow morning," Skylar nodded.
Janine's smile faded slightly. "My visa will be ready soon. I'll arrange to visit Murida for a month or two to keep you company and visit Mrs. Martin Senior. If anything happens before I'm there, call me or your brothers."
"Alright, Mom, don't worry," Skylar said, nodding.
Just then, there was a loud, urgent knock at the door.
