Chapter 1321
Rosa had already devised a plan to keep Joe entirely by her side. Calvin glanced at her in the rearview mirror, noticing the fierce glint in her eyes as she bit her lip. He furrowed his brow, feeling a premonition of trouble. Rosa was becoming increasingly irrational. Objectively, Skylar and Ned seemed a better match; together, they commanded attention. The bespectacled Ned of old had seemed a perfect complement to Rosa, but this new, spectacle-less Ned felt utterly different; their energies were no longer in harmony.
By the event's end, Skylar and Joe had barely exchanged a few words. Surrounded by onlookers, their every move was scrutinized. As the event concluded, Joe received a phone call and left first. Just before departing, he turned to Skylar and asked, โHave you and Joe ever been intimate?โ Even with her usual composure, Skylar felt her face flush with embarrassment. Her silence answered him. Joe didn't wait for a reply; he simply left.
Skylar took a deep breath and murmured, โFine, I forgive you for losing your memory, but the day you remember everythingโฆ just you wait.โ
A few days later, a blood-soaked figure appeared on a Jipsburg City street. Passersby immediately called the police and an ambulance; both arrived simultaneously. A critically injured woman, drenched in blood, was rushed to the hospital. During transport, police checked her ID, revealing her identity as a suspect they had been searching for.
"Who did this to her?" one officer asked.
"Considering her past actions, she probably has many enemies. Finding out who did this won't be easy. The location lacked surveillance cameras. We'll have to wait until she wakes up and question her directly," another officer replied.

As the officers discussed the situation, paramedics quickly examined Maisy in the ambulance. The doctor frowned. "She's covered in needle marks. Looks like long-term substance abuse. It's possible she was hallucinating and hurt herself. Wouldn't be the first time."
While the medical team and police speculated, Maisy was rushed into surgery. News of her condition reached Steven. Dropping everything, he raced to the hospital. Upon arrival, he identified himself to the officers outside her room. Recognizing him from the missing person report, an officer stopped him. "Due to the severity of her crimes, we can't let you see her," the officer stated firmly.
"I don't want to see her. I just need to know how bad it is," Steven replied.
Maisy's ruthless actions had left a trail of devastation. Steven had once vowed to handle her himself, ensuring she never threatened his family again. But now, it seemed someone else had assumed that burden. The police provided a brief update on Maisy's condition. Learning that Maisy might never walk again, a wave of dizziness washed over him. For a moment, he envisioned Skylar in a hospital bed, paralyzed. The image of her helplessness stole his breath. The terrifying thought gripped him, leaving him drenched in cold sweat. Only upon leaving the hospital did the chill subside, the image revealed as a figment of his imagination.
Checking the time, he saw it was 10:00 a.m. there, meaning it was 10:00 p.m. where Skylar was. She should still be awake. He dialed her number.
