Chapter 135

Kenny always felt they would regret their treatment of Skylar that day.

“Skylar is no longer an option, and now we’ve offended Paul. I must find a solution quickly,” Peter gasped, dismayed.

Jeffrey shouted, “Bitch!”

“What should we do? Paul definitely hates us now. Skylar is too cunning. Why did she call Paul to let him hear our conversation? Did she plan this beforehand? Paul stood up for her, and she still claims she has nothing to do with him,” Maisy said darkly.

“She hates us and wants us ruined! When have we ever mistreated her to deserve this?” Samuel fumed.

Kenny remembered something Skylar had said earlier: “It seems we’ve never been good to her.” Since Skylar returned home, they had been constantly critical and never satisfied with anything about her. In reality, Skylar was well-educated and very polite. She had always been considerate. Thinking about it made Kenny uncomfortable.

Peter said coldly, “Kenny, regardless of how we treated her, she’s still part of the Williams family. But now, instead of supporting us during difficult times, she’s adding to our troubles. That’s not right.”

“Peter’s right. Let’s see how long she can keep this up,” Samuel narrowed his eyes, planning to teach Skylar a lesson upon his return to the set. He felt Charles had spoiled Skylar and that they both deserved a lesson.

Maisy cautiously looked at Kenny. “Kenny, are you blaming me? If I hadn’t stayed home, Skylar would have stayed and wouldn’t be so hostile toward us.” She couldn’t allow their parents and brothers to become soft on Skylar.

Kenny looked at Maisy, whose eyes were red and puffy. Feeling guilty about his previous suspicions, he said, “It’s not your fault. You’re my sister, and always will be. Let’s not worry about Skylar anymore.”

“Kenny’s right. Let’s forget about her! One day, when she’s had enough and is discarded, she’ll beg for us to take her back,” Samuel seethed, his discomfort stemming from his blood relation to Skylar, whom he considered an embarrassment.

Minutes after Skylar left Williams Residence, she received a call from Joe.

His first words were, “You told the Williams family you’d sleep with me for a billion dollars?”

She braked sharply. Skylar’s face flushed as if caught in the act. She hadn’t thought it through at the time, forgetting that Paul might be with Joe and overhear their conversation.

“I was just talking to them. Mr. Martin, don’t take it seriously. I know you have someone you like,” Skylar took a deep breath, striving to remain calm and composed. He was truly overwhelming!

Skylar thought she heard Joe faintly chuckle through the phone, though the sound was muffled.

“I have someone I like? I wasn’t aware.”

Joe seemed to be in a good mood and continued chatting. “I saw Annie interviewing you a few days ago, and then I also saw people saying you were a couple in college. Mr. Martin, I’m really sorry. I didn’t know you had someone you liked, so I rashly agreed to Grandma’s request. I’ll head to Galaxy Villa, and we can discuss the divorce.” Skylar focused on driving while talking to Joe.

Joe’s voice was slightly cold. “I have nothing to do with Annie.”

Skylar wasn’t sure what to say. She wondered if, without any connection between them, they would still attend John’s engagement party together. Perhaps it was simply a lovers' quarrel.
