Half an hour later, Skylar met Joe. They hadn't seen each other for over ten days. When Joe saw Skylar return, he looked at her and asked, "You're back?"

"Yes, there was no traffic. It only took me thirty minutes to get back from the Williams Residence," Skylar said, walking in with her bag.

"Love you! Dinner?" Joe asked.

Skylar noticed the absence of gloom in his eyes—no sign of hunger or irritation from any argument. She thoughtfully nodded. "I had dinner before going to the Williamses."

"Come on, I'll take you somewhere," Joe said, standing up.

"Where to? It's already past eight."

"You'll see."

Skylar was silent for a moment before following him. She thought they were going out, but Joe led her to the garage.

She had never been to the garage before. She knew it was large, but she hadn't realized how vast—it housed over thirty cars, more than a typical dealership.

She wondered what Joe had in mind, realizing she couldn't read him. Still, she generously complimented, "These cars are so cool!" Each one seemed cooler than the last.

She didn't know much about cars and didn't recognize some brands. However, she knew they were impressive and very expensive.

Joe's eyes softened. "Pick one you like."

"What? For me?"

"Yes, a gift for joining Mr. Gardner Senior's team. The car you're currently driving is too small." He hadn't noticed her previous car; he assumed she'd choose from the garage. She had bought a small car worth over ten thousand dollars—a fact he only learned from Paul.

Skylar shook her head. "My car is new, electric, economical, and cheap to run. These all have high fuel consumption and are too conspicuous for work. But thank you for the thought."

"You're Mrs. Martin now. Gradually, Grandma's friends will get to know you. Our relationship is something the internet doesn't know about. If they find out I've been neglecting you, I won't be able to explain it to the elders," Joe said, anticipating her refusal.

She walked past the cars.

"If you don't like any, we can go to a dealership tomorrow," Joe said, noticing her lack of enthusiasm.

He had many cars, bought on a whim whenever a new or limited edition came out. Many had never been driven. Staff from Pearlhall Residence regularly maintained them. Now that he finally had time to look at them, he found them ordinary, making him reluctant to give one away.

In Skylar's mind, if these weren't impressive, others definitely weren't worth considering. Natalie had mentioned a few models, noting Jeremy liked a limited edition that Joe had reserved—a car Skylar had just seen, covered in dust and clearly never driven.

She casually chose one. "I'll take this one. But let's agree: I'll drive this when visiting Grandma. For work, I'll stick with my old one. The most expensive car my coworker drives is just over a hundred thousand. If I drive this to work, I'll be bombarded with questions. I prefer to keep a low profile."

Joe nodded. "As you wish."

They left the garage. As they were about to head back into the villa, Joe received a phone call, likely from a friend inviting him out.
