Chapter 307
“Whether she comes or not doesn’t matter,” Samuel said, rolling his eyes.
Maisy sighed and moved closer to Kenny. “Kenny, don’t worry about Mom.”
“Yeah, she’ll be fine,” Kenny replied, his gaze softening as he looked at Maisy.
Skylar approached the Williamses, and their expressions changed the moment they saw her. Since leaving home, Skylar had seemed more confident, but this confidence was accompanied by a cold indifference toward them. The warmth she’d once shown was replaced by a chilling distance. She glanced at the Williamses and then at the operating room. She was here to see the extent of Sadie’s injuries.
In her past life, Skylar had been paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident. Without her protection, she wondered what Sadie’s fate would be now. She had to witness it firsthand.
“You finally made it,” Samuel sneered.
“Just wait here. Sadie is still in surgery,” Jeffrey said coldly.
Skylar nodded and found a seat. Unlike the rest of the Williams family, she looked calm and composed; her expression revealed nothing.
Maisy felt guilty and didn’t dare to stir up trouble, knowing the video of her was in Skylar’s possession.
Peter sat down next to Skylar. His usual arrogance was diminished. “I’ve heard you’re quite skilled at restoring antiques and can even authenticate them. Is that true?”
Initially, Peter hadn’t believed the news, as Skylar had never mentioned such talents. Since her return to the Williams family, they had consistently ignored her interests. But now, Peter recalled instances when Skylar had offered advice about antiques, advice they had dismissed as nonsense. Thinking about the many items they’d purchased despite her suggestions, Kenny felt anxious. Could they all have been fakes?
Jeffrey narrowed his eyes as he looked at Skylar. “Is what Peter said true?”
Maisy bit her lip nervously.
“Why does it matter to you? Where was this curiosity before?” Skylar replied with a hint of a smile.
Of all the Williams family, Skylar disliked Samuel and Peter the most. Peter’s scheming nature often made him worse than Samuel; Samuel’s malice was blatant, while Peter was cunning, calculating, and self-serving.
“Of course it matters! I’m your brother!” Peter snapped.
Skylar chuckled. “My brother? The brother who tried to sell me out?”
In Skylar’s previous life, Peter hadn’t even spared her a glance when she was paralyzed and bedridden. When he passed by, he complained about the smell, which he found disgusting. Because of her paralysis, Skylar had been unable to care for herself; she developed bedsores and lost control of her bodily functions. The Williams family and even the helpers ignored her, leaving her filthy. How could she not have smelled? Even Sadie, who had survived the accident, saw her as a burden. It was no surprise that everyone else did, too.
Peter frowned, his gaze grim. “It’s your duty and honor to contribute to our family. After all, you’ve never done anything helpful for us. I’ve never regretted my actions, and you shouldn’t hold a grudge.”
Chapter 307 (Continued)
“Don’t make it sound like you guys made huge sacrifices for me. Legally, I’m not related to you, and blood ties mean little to me. You should mind your own business,” Skylar said with a cold smile.
