Christopher's eyes reddened. As the elevator doors closed, he watched Joe hug Skylar. The intimacy between them filled him with outrageous envy. He felt like screaming at the thought of Skylar being intimate with another man.

Dave, still weak-kneed with fright, was with him in the elevator. He would have beaten Christopher if he dared. The man's nerve! How dare Christopher offend Joe, and potentially endanger Dave as well?

The moment the room door closed, Joe used his height advantage to push Skylar against it and kiss her, seemingly punishing and expressing his emotions. Skylar's tongue went numb, and her body grew limp. After a long, suffocating kiss, Joe released her, breathing heavily in her ear. In a deep voice, he asked, "Do you still have feelings for that scum?"

Skylar belatedly realized his reference. A fleeting thought that Joe might be jealous crossed her mind, but she dismissed it. It was more likely his reaction to Christopher's words.

"You said it. He's scum. Why would I have feelings for him?" Skylar answered honestly.

Joe's pleased expression led him to kiss her repeatedly, this time gently. Skylar blushed. "You How is Ms. Scott doing?"

Joe, dissatisfied by her distraction, kissed her again, and things escalated quickly. He led her from the door to the bed.

Afterward, showering, Skylar recalled the events, biting her still-aching lip. How dare he? Her face reddened.

Joe entered the bathroom with medicine. He had been unable to restrain himself and might have hurt her. Seeing her blush even more intensely than before, he wondered if she was ill.
