Only now did she realize how good Skylar was. She had been thinking about the past more frequently over the last two days. When Sadie was sick, Maisy only said she cared, but Skylar actually tried to help relieve her discomfort.
At first, she thought Skylar was not as caring as Maisy and immediately teared up. She looked at Kenny and said, "Kenny, I didn't mean to make Mom angry. I worried about her."
The once elegant woman was now shrewish. She wished she had died in the car accident; everyone in the family would have understood.
Kenny frowned. "Mom, how can you say that about Maisy? Since your accident, Maisy has been crying almost every day, worrying about your health and thinking about how to make you happy. Yet you treat her like this. Let's be reasonable, Mom?"
"You!" Sadie was furious. "They dare put all the blame on me? I don't want you all here. Go find Skylar! I want to see Skylar now!" Her only request was to see Skylar.
Maisy sighed helplessly. "Mom, we've tried our best to find Skylar. She doesn't care about you. She went traveling the day after your surgery. She obviously won't come."
"You must bring her here! Even if she doesn't want to come, you must find a way to make her come!" Sadie insisted. She didn't know why, but a voice kept telling her she had to see Skylar.
Kenny looked solemn. "We'll try our best."
