Chapter 433
Jeffrey knew he was being framed. His relentless pursuit of Williams Group expansion had repeatedly involved breaking the law. Initially, he believed he'd been discreet, but the police arrived with irrefutable evidence of his wrongdoing.
His excuses crumbled under police scrutiny, and everyone witnessed their chairman's arrest. The company's fate was sealed. With their chairman arrested and three months' wages unpaid, employees were panicked.
"What should we do now, Mr. Williams?"
A crowd of employees bombarded Peter with questions. Overwhelmed, he exclaimed, "How should I know? Close the door! Keep the journalists out! Let me think!"
Their worried glances reflected his distress. Someone bravely suggested, "The Williams Group is bankrupt. Pay us our salaries!" They had worked hard for meager wages, only to be denied payment for months.
Peter's head throbbed. He roared, "There's no money! If you don't want to work here, get out!" He felt betrayed, even by his own employees.
"Mr. Williams, we're reporting this to the Ministry of Labor!"
"Let's tell the journalists! Expose these wicked capitalists!"
"Let's sue them! We won't let them steal our hard-earned money!"
A protest erupted, the entire office echoing with angry complaints. Employees flooded out, some heading to the Ministry of Labor, others to the waiting journalists.
The Williams Group descended into chaos. Videos depicting the situation went viral.
Skylar saw the news during lunch. She learned of Jeffrey's arrest and the Williams family's downfall. Inside sources revealed Jeffrey's shady dealings and numerous legal violations, resulting in a sentence of at least two decades.
Peter, meanwhile, was trapped in the office, facing pressure from employees and media to pay their wages. Their bankruptcy became public knowledge. Numerous exposรฉs about the Williams family appeared online, notably omitting any mention of Skylarโpossibly due to online manipulation.
Skylar found the video of Maisy, realizing it could help Kenny, but decided to wait.
"The Williamses must have really angered someone," Caleb grinned. "Crimes from decades ago are resurfacing. I'm thrilled!" He reveled in their downfall, knowing Skylar's innocence. Their incapacitation was his only concern.
"I saw an exposรฉ about Jeffrey confronting Mrs. Martin Senior and Joe Martin at the Martins Group this morning," Caleb said. "Is he insane?"
Skylar leapt up. "Did he really see Mrs. Martin Senior and Joe?"
"I don't know how accurate it is," Caleb replied, "but the pictures I saw seemed clear. They've probably been removed now. The Martins wouldn't want this publicized." He searched for the report.
