Chapter 576

Adele, Felicia’s cousin, would benefit from Felicia’s eventual success. With Joe on their side, they would become an unstoppable force in Jipsburg. Felicia’s family also hoped someone would introduce her to Joe.

Felicia’s eyes darted around the room. "What a coincidence!" she exclaimed.

"Right," Adele replied. "Our investigations confirm it. Skylar caused a commotion in Jipsburg as the true Williams heiress. We now know Charles isn't her biological brother; Samuel is."

A plan formed in Felicia's mind. "Charles?" she remarked. "He's quite popular lately. But you haven't seen Skylar. She's revolting! She had plastic surgery based on my likeness, incorporating features from others. In the end, she's prettier than me. How sickening."

"Perhaps she's a fan," Adele suggested. "Otherwise, why use you as a template? If that's the case, Mr. Martin's type is probably women like you. Skylar is merely a replacement."

Felicia's eyes brightened. Was Skylar her replacement? Had Joe ignored her in their past meetings to pique her interest?

"Don't tell my family," Felicia instructed. "You must get me into all future events. I need more opportunities to interact with Joe."

Adele readily agreed. "Alright, don't worry. We don't currently have frequent encounters with Joe."

"No worries," Felicia said. "We have plenty of time. I've been getting along well with Rowan and his friends; he invites me to many events. My chances of seeing Joe will increase."

"Right, you said I'm starring in my next movie with Charles. When the time comes, pay special attention to him for me. We might be able to use him to our advantage," Felicia advised.

"Alright," Adele replied.

Natalie arrived with two smoothies. On the coffee table sat a plate of fried chicken, a pizza, and a fruit platter.

"These are takeout orders I just placed," Natalie said. "Did you say someone rear-ended your car? What happened?" She scanned Skylar to check for injuries.

Skylar described the incident.

Natalie was stunned. "Isn't she shameless?" she exclaimed. "At first, she wouldn't admit her mistakes. She thought you were weak and easily controlled. But seeing Joe completely changed her attitude. If Joe hadn't been there, who knows what scandals she would have concocted about you?"

Since becoming Austin's assistant, Natalie had heard many stories about the entertainment industry from Hank and witnessed some firsthand. She knew some people would do anything to go viral, even resorting to unethical methods. She looked down on them, making Austin seem like a rare gem in the industry.

"This is the world we live in," Natalie said. "Thankfully, it yielded acceptable results."

Changing the subject, she continued, "I'll be leaving Jipsburg for about two weeks to accompany Mr. Powell to a movie set in a neighboring city. I invited you today to talk about my relationship with Jeremy. You're the only person I can discuss this with."

Natalie bit into her fried chicken; only her favorite food offered her any emotional comfort.

Skylar nodded, thinking about Jeremy being seduced by black magic. She wondered if she should tell Natalie.
