Kenny decided ten million dollars was the better choice, resolute in securing that sum from Maisy. This amount would allow his family to leave Jipsburg City and start anew; the Williams family could still succeed.
“Alright, I’m going now. But I need money for the flight ticket. You’ll lend me some, and I’ll repay you tenfold once I get the money from Maisy.”
Christopher readily agreed. “Sure, come on over. But remember your word.”
“Don’t worry.”
After receiving the money, Kenny bought a flight ticket and flew to Korel City, the ten million already feeling like his. A satisfied smirk played on Christopher’s face as Kenny departed.
Half an hour later, Christopher sold the unconscious Maisy to human traffickers in the Askea market. Her recent illness and lack of profitability made her disposal the most expedient option. He hadn't expected such a large sum for selling a person. He'd always felt Kenny looked down on him, so he decided to give Kenny what he felt he deserved: selling both of them, perhaps even reuniting them under unfortunate circumstances. He wanted them to remember he was responsible. Once Kenny was dealt with, Christopher planned to return to Jipsburg City. He longed for Skylar above all else; with money, he believed she would return to him. “Skylar, wait for me. I’ll be back soon,” he thought, eagerly anticipating his return.
Meanwhile, Maisy awoke inside a burlap sack, overhearing Christopher's conversation about her sale. The stark reality of what she'd only seen in movies overwhelmed her, sparking a wave of desperation and silent protest.
A menacing growl warned, “Stop wriggling, or I’ll end you!” Fear paralyzed her. These people were far more ruthless than Christopher; if they threatened to kill her, they would.
Hatred for Christopher consumed her. “Christopher, you won’t have a good end,” she cursed inwardly. The past few days felt like hell; she deeply regretted not returning to Janine sooner, preferring a hard life with her to this daily torment. Facing a brutal future, she desperately yearned for escape.
Then she heard Christopher instruct her captor, “She’s clever; keep an eye on her and prevent escape.”

His pleas were ignored. Finally, annoyed by his shouting, someone arrived with a stun baton, delivering a brutal beating. The other caged individuals, terrified of becoming targets, cowered.
