Chapter 62
Forty minutes later, Skylar arrived at the police station. She had just parked and was about to exit her car when Steven called.
“Where are you, Skye?”
“I’m in the parking lot, about to go in and make a report. What’s up, Steven?” Skylar asked.
Sounding relieved, he said, “Hold off on your visit. Numerous videos have just been released online. They’re more comprehensive than the ones you have.”
“There are clips of Christopher and Maisy going to a hotel. Some even show them on dates at various restaurants. People claiming to be your high school classmates also revealed information. It’s the top trending topic online.”
“Someone also exposed the false reports that got you banned from social media. We have the upper hand. They’re the ones who should be scrambling now.”
Skylar ended the call and immediately checked the news. Indeed, the top trending topic had changed. All sorts of shocking revelations were overwhelming the falsehoods Maisy and the others had spread.
Could it be that these people, hating to see these capitalists controlling online comments, decided to step forward for justice? Similar voices were heard last night, but the Williamses silenced them. Internet trolls wouldn't have allowed those voices to be heard, so how did they surface?
Just as Skylar pondered this, her phone rang. It was Natalie.
“Skye, I’m not sure if it was because I rallied a few schoolmates to share their statements, but it worked,” Natalie said.
She continued, “The internet trolls the Williams family hired can no longer suppress the truth. Justice will prevail. Maisy’s self-righteous statement is a joke.
“Also, you had many suitors in university. I never liked Christopher when he visited you. Turns out he’s a real jerk. He also released a statement saying you accused Maisy out of jealousy. I wish I could slap him!
“It’s been almost a month since we last met, right? You were busy with the Williams family then, and said you weren’t free. You were often unwell from blood donations. You must have some free time now, don’t you, Skye?”

Skylar laughed. “We have plenty of time. Choose a place. It’s my treat.” A glimmer shone in her eyes. Because of the Williams family, she’d missed time with friends and family in her previous life. That would change.
“It’s my husband’s birthday. I just cooked him dinner and am waiting for him. Let’s meet at 6:00 pm tomorrow. We’ll go to our usual stew restaurant. Then, I’ll take you somewhere that will surprise you.”
“I can’t believe our Natty’s become such a dutiful wife,” Skylar joked.
“I might be a dutiful wife today, but I’ll be your understanding friend tomorrow. I’m definitely not only devoted to my husband.”
After ending the call, Skylar drove to a street with antique shops.
Steven’s friends were going crazy in their group chat after he spoke with Skylar.
“Steven, did you guys find an amazing PR team?”
“This comeback is incredible. The Williamses’ PR team couldn’t react.”
“Plus, they found all the evidence so quickly!”
“When did you get acquainted with such amazing people? You were just discussing solutions yesterday, and today you found the right people. Did you work things out silently?”
Steven frowned at the influx of messages. He typed his reply:
“It wasn’t me. I don’t think this is an orchestrated comeback. My sister and I don’t know any PR teams this good.” If they did, he wouldn't have been losing sleep.
“That’s impossible. I work in PR. Most posts were from verified accounts. There was paid media, and the evidence was widely posted. That indicates significant preparation.”
