Chapter 637

Someone had sought out Skylar yesterday. However, Skylar couldn't tell Gloria, fearing it would worry her. She would handle it herself.

She smiled and nodded. "Alright! I'll do as you say. Don't worry, Grandma. I value your advice above everyone else's. I won't listen to a word they say."

Skylar coaxed her until Gloria calmed, her anxiety dissipating. Edgar watched, smiling. In critical moments, they still relied on Skylar. He'd tried consoling Gloria, but to no avail. Skylar, with a few words, had completely relieved her nervousness.

At the Moran Residence, Molly gave Edwin a bowl of freshly boiled herbal medicine.

"Darling, the herbal medicine is ready. Drink it now."

Edwin took it and drank it in one gulp, returning the empty bowl. His face remained somber.

"Gloria isn't giving in, is she?" Molly asked.

"Mom's old. She doesn't remember the Martin family, and she insists Skylar is best for Joe. It's not like I'd harm my own son, is it? Skylar was born in the village, then discovered to be the Williams heiress. But they're insignificant compared to us, and their family is in ruins. What can they give Joe? He's lost his mind under Skylar's spell. If I'd known, I would have returned months ago," Edwin complained, a vein throbbing in his forehead.

Molly sighed. "I'm sorry, darling. Gloria never liked me, and she's not well. Joe keeps his distance and ignores my advice. As for Skylar, her ability to satisfy both Joe and Gloria suggests she's intelligent."

"There are countless intelligent people. I wouldn't care if it were a fling. But they're married! I won't support this. Have you made the arrangements as instructed?"

Molly's eyes dimmed at the mention of a fling. She knew of Edwin's numerous affairs. Yet, she knew he loved her; otherwise, he wouldn't have married her, even severing ties with Gloria. Their long marriage had dulled the novelty, and given his position, women undoubtedly pursued him. Molly had once obsessed over it, but no longer cared.

"I'm making the arrangements, darling. We can't rush. There's history between you and Joe. We can't let him know we're behind this," Molly replied gently, composing herself. She thought of Skylar, gorgeous, perhaps more beautiful than Molly in her youth. It was a pity, she thought, for Skylar to meet such an end. But this was their life.

Edwin, always confident in Molly's abilities, grasped her hand, his gaze warm. "You're right."

During Natalie's lunch break, Kate called.

"Nath, Jeremy told me you're back at work. Is that true? You must take care of yourself. If you're too tired, take a break, alright? How are things between you two going?"
