Chapter 690
After taking Skylar away, Aiken leisurely turned to the restrained men. "Do you know who I am?"
The men were dumbfounded. They wouldn't be resorting to such desperate measures if they possessed the ability to instantly recognize influential figures.
"In that case," Aiken asked patiently, "do you know who Skylar is?"
The men, lying flat on the floor, strained their necks to look up at him, utterly confused. Who was this man, and why was he asking these questions?
A masked man hissed through gritted teeth, "I didn't know who Skylar was. Now I know she's Joe's wife."
Aiken chuckled. "You're right, but not entirely. She's not only Joe's wife, but also someone the Parkinson family has vowed to protect. My name is Aiken Parkinson, and she's a friend. Do you understand?"
The masked men's eyes widened. Aiken? Aiken Parkinson? What kind of powerful figure had they unwittingly antagonized?
"I want to hear you say it—one by one," Aiken stated, pointing to the side. "Turn on the cameras and point them at them."
On the way to the hospital, Howard tended to Skylar's wounds. The gaping wounds on her fair skin caused him to frown; the head wound was particularly severe, her hair matted with blood. The extent of her injuries testified to her desperate struggle.
Paul's eyes welled with tears. He looked out the window, instructing the driver to speed up. Both Paul and Howard felt terrible, unable to imagine Joe's anguish. He hadn't spoken since entering the car, his gaze fixed coldly on Skylar's wounds.
Howard, attending to Skylar's wounds, looked up, noticing Joe's grim demeanor. "Thankfully," he said, "the wounds are only superficial. No vital organs were harmed. She fainted from the injected drugs and the exertion of her struggle."
The potential consequences, had the men raped Skylar before their arrival, were unthinkable.
Joe's expression remained grim. He simply uttered, "Alright."
At the hospital, Joe received Skylar's examination reports and was livid. "Any updates from Aiken?" he asked Paul.
Paul hesitated before answering.
Joe narrowed his eyes. "Does it involve Edwin?"
Paul nodded. "Aiken confirmed Molly contacted them."
Joe clenched his jaw, glancing at the unconscious Skylar. "Watch over her here."
Aiken dealt with the men, sending them out of Jipsburg immediately. Joe saw no need to inquire further; those who suffered at Aiken's hands remained silent. Dead men told fewer tales.
He sent a considerable amount of evidence to Joe. Upon confirmation of email delivery, he went home.
