Chapter 728
As night fell, Charles's online notoriety continued to escalate. Freddie knew they might be unable to reverse the damage. His superiors had advised that a legal letter would be futile; it would go unnoticed. Felicia's powerful public relations team, hired to smear Joe's name, seemed insurmountable. They were facing a grim reality: the compensation Charles would owe would deplete his savings. However, they couldn't tell him that.
Freddie glanced at the calm siblings. Despite the seemingly impossible task, he sensed a glimmer of hope. In the entertainment industry, such situations typically resulted in banishment, forcing individuals back to blue-collar jobs.
Then, Freddie received a call from Benjamin, their CEOโa surprising call, as Freddie had contacted Benjamin multiple times without a response. He'd assumed their cause was lost.
"Mr. Morris!" Benjamin exclaimed, clearly astonished.
"You got Jacky Lourdes to be your lawyer?"
"Who's Jacky Lourdes?" Freddie countered, glancing at Skylar. This must be her lawyer. The CEO's surprise indicated Lourdes was no ordinary legal professional.
Benjamin pressed, "Doesn't Charles come from an ordinary background? How did you secure Lourdes's services? Has Charles been concealing his background from you?"
Stunned, Freddie could only stare at the siblings. Charles stared at the ground, clearly distraught, while Skylar, strikingly beautiful even compared to industry actresses, met his gaze. Her unassuming demeanor belied a shrewd perceptiveness. Freddie suspected Charles's background might be unremarkable, but Skylar's certainly was not.
"I'm not really sure. We contacted a lawyer this afternoon," Freddie replied.
After a pause, Benjamin said, "We might be able to salvage this. I'll give you the password to Charles's Instagram account. Do what you must."
"What? Alright. Thanks, Mr. Morris!" Freddie's jaw dropped.
Even after the call ended, Freddie felt like he was dreaming. He then told Charles, "Mr. Morris has given us access to your Instagram account. You can speak for yourself now."
Turning to Skylar, he asked, "Is Mr. Lourdes a good lawyer? It seems Mr. Morris knows him."
Skylar nodded. "I think Mr. Lourdes is an excellent lawyer. He's helped me through some difficult situations."
"Oh, that's great," Freddie said hurriedly. "Should we ask your PR team to help us write an announcement for Instagram?" They couldn't publish anything without careful consideration; mistakes could be irrevocably damaging.
Charles's eyes lit up. "When did Mr. Morris become so kind?"
Freddie was equally puzzled. "I'm not sure why he's being so accommodating. It might be because we found a lawyer. He thinks it'll help. After all, you're a talented actor with a promising future. Mr. Morris is a businessman; he wouldn't give you up easily if he could avoid it."
