Chapter 857

Helena perceived a difference in Austin's treatment of Natalie. "I'd like a word with Ms. Jakeman," she said, smiling.

Natalie, puzzled, raised an eyebrow. Austin's eyes darkened as he looked at her. "Do you know Ms. Hart?"

"We met at the mall a few days ago," Natalie replied truthfully.

Austin nodded. "Go ahead."

Helena, noticing Austin's evident concern for Natalie, felt her earlier apprehension dissipate. The two women walked a short distance to a secluded spot under a large tree.

"Ms. Hart, you want to ask about my relationship with Jeremy, right? I'm divorced from him. His future relationships are none of my concern," Natalie stated proactively.

Helena smiled, nodding. "I did want to ask about your relationship with Mr. Hughes, but you may have misunderstood. We're just friends. I'm the face of his company's new product, so we've met privately a few times."

Natalie, surprised, replied, "Oh, I see." She mused, Going to the mall together, but just friends? Then she remembered Helena's rising star status and the media's scrutiny.

Helena, seeing Natalie's unconcern, was even more perplexed. "Are you truly not considering getting back together with Mr. Hughes, Ms. Jakeman?" Given Jeremy's status in Jipsburg City, many women would covet him. Yet, Jeremy's attitude toward Natalie left Helena uncertain. He seemed unable to let go of Natalie; his behavior before and after her appearance at the mall had been markedly different. This prompted Helena's inquiry into Natalie's character. Even in their brief exchange, Helena sensed Natalie's integrity. Others might claim a lack of lingering ties with an ex, but Natalie's sincerity was evident.

Natalie smiled, shaking her head. "No, I'm not." Reconciliation was a fictional concept, not a reality for her. "If you have no further questions, I need to return to work."

"Sorry to bother you, Ms. Jakeman," Helena replied.

Natalie smiled, assuring her it was no trouble, before rejoining Austin. His smile returned as she approached.

Helena observed Austin, recalling the industry myths surrounding him. Years in the entertainment industry, and he maintained a spotless reputation, untouched by scandal. Many actresses had attempted to leverage him, but none succeeded. While on-screen chemistry often led to off-screen pairings in the media's eye, Austin only played along superficially, avoiding any flirtation that might fuel gossip. Yet, Helena sensed a fondness for Natalie.

Meanwhile, Skylar received a call from Joe on her way back to Galaxy Villa. He wouldn't be returning home that day.
