Chapter 890

Jenny frowned deeply, pursing her lips. "I'll keep it from him as long as you don't tell him," she said. "I know you don't want me to marry into a wealthy family, but you've already married Joe, and Mrs. Martin Senior adores you. You have everything you could ever want. Can't you help me?"

Skylar's smile faded. "I'm not obligated to help you," she stated flatly. The woman was, as expected, cruel; she wouldn't allow others to surpass her.

"You! Do you intend to speak ill of me to Rowan?" Jenny's fury flared. She'd been so humble, yet Skylar wouldn't relent.

Jenny doubted Joe's love for Skylar would last. Vera's scrutiny of Joe suggested a possible divorce.

Skylar sighed. "Think what you want."

"Do you have to badmouth me behind my back? Who doesn't have skeletons in their closet?" Jenny gritted her teeth, barely suppressing a curse.

Skylar, uninterested in Jenny's complaints, believed everyone should prioritize her. Finding no reason to continue, she rose and went to the restroom.

Jenny, angered by Skylar's abrupt departure, knew she'd be betrayed. She'd just reconciled with Rowan, who planned to end his engagement and introduce her to his family. He mustn't learn what happened; he was her only escape.

Moments later, Joe also went to the washroom. Rowan spoke with Jenny before joining his friends. Jenny, biting her lip, headed for the men's restroom. The men's and women's restrooms were separate, located within their respective changing rooms. She waited at the door.

When Joe emerged, Jenny, tears streaming down her face, blocked his exit. "Joe, I've made a mistake. I'm sorry. I did wrong, but Edwin forced me. Now that I'm with Rowan, please don't tell him." Jenny's vulnerability was a practiced act; her tears softened hearts, preventing reprimands.

"Do you know the nature of my relationship with Rowan?" Joe asked impassively.

Jenny froze, her sobs halting. Tears clung to her lashes. "I knowโ€ฆ But you raised me, Joe. You've always been so good to me. Iโ€”"

Rowan arrived, his expression souring at the sight of her by the men's changing room. "Why are you here?" he asked, glancing at Joe's icy face.

Jenny clenched her fists. "I got lost and thought this was the women's changing room. Thankfully, I ran into Joe."

Rowan, relieved, sighed. "You're such a dumb little thing!"

"I'm going to the washroom," Jenny mumbled, fleeing with her head down, appearing embarrassed.

Rowan shook his head, then told Joe, "I forgot to mention Jenny and I are together. I realized I still love her."

Joe's eyes gleamed coldly. Rowan, oblivious to this, noted Joe's usual approachability. Joe lit a cigarette. "What about Minerva?" he asked.

"We had no feelings. It was mutually beneficial. She's not the clinging type. We'll separate peacefully. She's been out of Jipsburg for a week. I'll talk to her when she returns."

"Right. I noticed you're giving Jenny the cold shoulder. Has she done something to upset you?" Rowan didn't want Jenny and Joe too close.
