Chapter 893

After hanging up, Joe glanced at Skylar and commented, "You're the only one Grandma can see." He sounded a little jealous.

Skylar couldn't help but gloat. "I'm cute and gorgeous. It's normal that Grandma adores me. Try harder. Perhaps you'll be more important to Grandma one day."

Joe choked back a laugh. "I detected no trace of humbleness there."

"It's nothing but the truth," Skylar smiled.

Joe stood, their perspective shifting drastically; Skylar now had to look up at him. He glanced down at her. It was as though black holes swirled within his eyes; their depths unfathomable. He said, "Mr. Querbach told me Grandma was very jealous of others holding their grandchildren during the reunion. Just now, she asked us to work hard. Skylar, why don't we have a baby?"

His tone suggested it was a casual comment, perhaps because the atmosphere between them was excellent. They were like a deeply in love married couple, discussing their future.

Skylar was momentarily disoriented, but quickly recovered.

She averted her gaze, changing the subject. "I need to use the washroom."

Joe watched Skylar leave, an icy glare flashing across his faceโ€”terrifying.

Chapter 893 (Continued)

Skylar again went to the hospital on Sunday afternoon. Aiken called that morning, saying Simona was feeling down and hadn't spoken much. He was worried and asked if Skylar could visit. As for Joe, last night's events had upset them both; he'd left that morning.

Before entering Simona's room, Aiken explained. "Simona saw many students talking about her and Wendy in a chat group; some comments were very crude. She's been in a horrible mood ever since."

Aiken seemed exhausted and worried, Skylar the only person he could think of to help, the only one he trusted with Simona.

Skylar nodded. "Alright, I understand. It's understandable she'd be affected by those negative comments."

"I've been a failure as her brother," Aiken admitted, a rare display of vulnerability. He felt lost.

Skylar couldn't bear to see him like that. She consoled him gently, "It's not your fault. Don't stress or blame yourself."

"Yeah," Aiken forced a smile. Looking at Skylar intently, he said, "Why don't you go in? I'll find somewhere to smoke."

Skylar said nothing, entering the room. Aiken left the hospital, standing outside to make a call. "Those men you were schooling... how's it going?"
