Chapter 899
“Morning, Mr. Martin!” Paul greeted cheerily. It was the first weekday of the new week, and he wanted to ensure Joe found nothing amiss in his work.
“Has there been a lot of online gossip about me? Find a way to get rid of it,” Joe instructed.
Paul replied, “What remains online is mostly speculation. It's mainly vloggers fabricating stories for views, not official media. I'll find a way to address it.”
However, it proved difficult. As soon as one rumor was quelled, another surfaced. The best solution was for Joe and Skylar to announce their marriage; that would quickly dispel the rumors. However, Paul lacked the courage to suggest this to Joe.
A few days later, Simona and Wendy were discharged. Skylar visited them. Wendy would stay with Simona for several weeks while Aiken arranged their school transfers. Wendy would board at her new school. Meanwhile, the boys who bullied them were reportedly experiencing considerable emotional distress while awaiting sentencing. The evidence against them was substantial, ensuring legal repercussions. Simona and Wendy, however, were moving forward. Their psychologist remained optimistic, confident in their resilience and self-awareness. With continued support, the incident's impact would be significantly minimized.
After leaving Parkinson Residence, Skylar visited Janine, who had managed her online store exceptionally well. Janine's abilities had been underutilized in recent years. Before leaving home, Steven had called, inquiring about Skylar; he was on an overseas business trip.
Next, Skylar saw Harvey. His academic progress remained excellent, and he was on track for his dream university, with the college entrance exam approaching. Skylar kept her visit brief, mindful of this crucial time for him.
As she neared Galaxy Villa, she noticed a car following her in her rearview mirror. This car had been tailing her earlier. Her neighborhood was affluent and well-guarded. The guards quickly intercepted the vehicle.
After arriving home, Skylar reviewed the security footage. She saw the guards speak to the driver, who remained in the car, then reversed and left. She questioned the guards, who explained the driver had simply made a wrong turn.
Skylar frowned. Was she overreacting? An international call came in.
“Skye, did you miss me?”
Hearing Natalie's voice, Skylar dismissed her apprehension and left the surveillance room. “A minute away from you feels like an eternity,” she replied.
“Ha! When I get home, we’re having fondue and barbecue! I’m starving. My pants are practically falling off!” Natalie’s enthusiasm was evident.
Skylar could practically hear Natalie licking her chops.
“We’ve been staying at Mr. Powell’s estate. It’s amazing! Such a shame we only have a few days off. He's back at work today, getting his makeup done, so I had a moment to call.” Natalie sighed, lamenting the fleeting time.
Skylar chuckled. “Sounds like you had a wonderful time at his estate.”
“Wonderful? It was like a fairytale! Not your average estate, more like a castle!” Natalie exclaimed.
