Chapter 579:
Corey's expression darkened, and he strode out purposefully. Shortly afterward, Alicia learned of Yolanda's pointed question.
“What’s this about, Corey? Didn’t I help you fix the chip? If so, why call Alicia? Are you trying to insult me?”
Corey's tone was even, almost indifferent. “You fixed the basic issues, yes. But only Alicia can fully restore it.”
“Is everyone else suddenly incompetent? Why her?”
“If you're capable, replace her now.”
As the daughter of a wealthy family, Yolanda controlled her fury, suppressing her anger. She clenched her jaw and warned, “Corey, siding with Alicia means opposing the Moss family. Consider your next move carefully.”
Instead of replying, Corey coldly instructed his subordinates, “Escort Miss Moss to the door.”
“Corey!” Yolanda exclaimed, but the door slammed shut, muffling her protest.
Alicia remained focused on her work, unperturbed. When Corey returned, she said, “Please leave. I don’t want to be disturbed.”
Corey paused, his gaze lingering on the chip before he turned and left. Yolanda stood calmly by the floor-to-ceiling window. Corey handed her a bottle of water.
“If the chip isn't fixed, I'll face severe criticism. Why would I want to offend such wealthy people?”
Yolanda took the bottle and splashed the cold water on Corey's face. Her expression turned frigid. “But summoning Alicia is a direct insult!”
Corey gritted his teeth, wiping the water from his skin. “Yolanda, do you think I’ll tolerate your behavior indefinitely?” His voice was low but firm. “Don’t forget what you once asked of me. Do you no longer want it?”
Yolanda scoffed. “You’re not the only one who can do it.”
A sly smile touched Corey’s lips. “True, but I’m the only one who can do it smoothly and efficiently. Using someone else will be disastrous.”
Her eyes narrowed, anger simmering beneath the surface as she glared at his smug face. “As long as it's done, I’ll overlook your past mistakes, Corey.”
