Chapter 105
โMom, Iโฆโ Linda barely got a word out before Madam Hart smacked her hard across the face. โLinda, youโve really got some nerve, dragging people to the Hart residence to stir up trouble. You must have a death wish!"
โAnd the rest of you. Who do you think you are, trying to pull this scam in front of me? Are you all looking to get yourselves killed?โ
Ebert was stunned by how fierce this old lady was. With so many people against her, not a single one could even get close. She was unstoppable.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn, wearing a face mask, sat in the cafรฉ, waiting.
Soon, a woman wearing sunglasses and a hat walked in.
She yanked off her hat and snapped impatiently, โYouโd better keep your word this time and give me what I asked for. Otherwiseโฆ Jocelyn, you know exactly whatโll happen if you try to play games with me.โ
Jocelyn smiled, pulled a file from her bag, and slid it across the table. โMiss Winslow, these are my documents. Take a look for yourself.โ
Sheryl Winslow flipped through the pages, nodded in satisfaction, then pulled out a card and tossed it onto the table. โThree million. This is worthโฆโ
โJocelyn, are you absolutely sure the Hart Corporation has no idea about these secrets?โ
Jocelyn flashed a knowing grin as she picked up the card. โMiss Winslow, relax. This is top secret, straight from when I was running that project. No one at the Hart Corporation will ever know."
โThis could decide the fate of the whole company. Just three million for something this big? Donโt you think thatโs a little cheap?โ
โWhat else do you want?โ Sheryl asked.
Jocelynโs smile grew even more self-satisfied, her face twisting with greed. โMiss Winslow, after the Hart Corporation goes bankrupt, I want a share of whatโs left. Iโm sure you know exactly what I mean,โ she said, her eyes glinting.
Sheryl hesitated for a moment before replying, โFine. Once the Hart Corporation collapses, all the Hart familyโs cars and houses are yours.โ
โSienna, arenโt you always so arrogant? Well, the Hart Corporation is about to go under. Now that your companyโs core secrets have been leaked, thereโs no way you can make a comeback. I canโt wait to see how youโll get yourself out of this mess this time!
When that day comes, Iโll throw you all out. Iโll keep you under my heel for the rest of your miserable life and make sure you never rise again,โ Sheryl sneered inwardly, her heart brimming with vicious satisfaction.
Feeling on top of the world, Sheryl headed to the mall to shop, with a few friends tagging along.
After buying a mountain of stuff, they went to a restaurant for dinner. Her friends noticed she was in an unusually good mood and asked what had happened.
Sheryl smiled and said, โOh, nothing much. Iโm just planning to acquire a company soon.โ
โA company? Which one?โ they asked, curious.
Sheryl flashed a nonchalant smile and said, โThe Hart Corporationโs been doing pretty well lately, hasnโt it? I figured Iโd just take it over for fun.โ
โOh my god! Sheryl, you really are the Winslow familyโs heiress. Thatโs impressive. Ever since the Hart Corporation changed ownership, its growth has been nothing to sneeze at."
โBut to you, itโs just a plaything. No wonder the Winslow family is ranked third among the top five businesses in Vallaris. Weโre honestly so jealous.โ
โYeah, Sheryl, you can decide a companyโs fate with just a word. Youโre incredible. But my dad told me the only reason the Hart Corporation is making such a splash right now is that theyโve got some serious connections backing them up. He even went out of his way to try and work with them, but they actually turned him down. Seriously, they donโt know whatโs good for them. Whatโs so great about them anyway?โ one of her friends scoffed.
Sheryl let out a cold snort, her tone dripping with arrogance. โThey just got lucky, thatโs all. Itโs nothing worth mentioning. Iโve got something in my hands that could make their company collapse overnight.โ
While Sheryl was still busy showing off, a girl sitting behind her tugged her cap lower over her eyes, settled her bill, and quietly slipped out of the restaurant.
Dressed in black, her tall, slender silhouette melted into the crowd. She shot Sheryl a sharp, chilling look, her eyes flashing with a dangerous glint, then turned and disappeared into the throng.
