Chapter 131

As for Winifred, it was like sheโ€™d lost her mind. Even as a little kid, she was strange and a little creepy, secretly dissecting animal carcasses and going to the airport every day, waiting for someone who never came. One time, she almost didnโ€™t make it back.

โ€œWinifred, youโ€™re finally back! I really thought Iโ€™d never see you again,โ€ Ryan choked out.

Winifred looked a little worn out, her face numb as she brushed past Ryan and went straight upstairs. As she walked into her room, she muttered, โ€œIโ€™m tired. Sorry!โ€

Ryan didnโ€™t say anything else, just silently watched her close the door.

Winifred lay on her bed, her expression mocking, thinking to herself. She deserved to get hurt. Who told her to take matters into her own hands and come save me! Does she even realize how dangerous that was? Why did she have to come? Liar.

Winifred walked over to the bed and took the little snake out of its box, gently stroking its head. The snake wriggled happily in her hand, soaking up her affection.

But in the next second, with a whoosh, the snake was suddenly grabbed and tossed out the window. It got caught in a tree for a moment before dropping to the ground. The black snake melted into the darkness of the night.

The next day, Amber woke up and didnโ€™t see Vivian around. She assumed Sienna must have taken Vivian out again. She felt a little annoyed.

Why didnโ€™t they take me? Is it just because Iโ€™m still in school? Once Iโ€™m done with school, Iโ€™m going to party every day just like them. What does alcohol taste like? Does it really make me feel tipsy! Amber thought.

When she saw Sienna coming down the stairs, Amberโ€™s mood instantly lifted. She was relieved that Sienna hadnโ€™t gone out, and it made her happy.

But when their eyes met, Amber immediately sensed something was off. Sienna looked a bit too pale.

โ€œMorning, Amber,โ€ Sienna greeted her.

โ€œAre you okay? Are you sick or something?โ€ Amber asked, her concern growing. She rushed over, eyeing Sienna carefully, her gaze moving from her head to her toes.

She noticed the slight swelling on Siennaโ€™s arm and reached out to touch it. In her anxiety, she pressed too hard, causing Sienna to let out a sharp hiss and suck in a breath through her teeth.

Amber pulled her hand back in shock, her eyes welling up with tears. โ€œIโ€™m sorry! I didnโ€™t mean to. Please, does it hurt?โ€ she cried, her voice shaky with regret.

Sienna saw her face streaked with tears, her mouth still crammed with food, and quickly pulled out a few tissues. โ€œSpit out whatโ€™s in your mouth first or youโ€™ll choke. Iโ€™m fine, Amber. Donโ€™t cry,โ€ she said gently, offering her a reassuring smile.

Amber obeyed, spitting out the food. Her eyes, still full of tears, looked up at Sienna, timid and unsure. This time, she didnโ€™t dare touch her. Instead, she pointed at her arm. โ€œDoes it hurt a lot? Let me blow on it for you,โ€ she said, then gently blew on Siennaโ€™s arm.

Siennaโ€™s heart melted at how adorable Amber looked. โ€œAlright, really, Iโ€™m fine. Itโ€™s just a little bump, doesnโ€™t hurt at all. Come on, finish your breakfast and head off to school,โ€ Sienna said with a gentle smile.

Amber sniffled, her heart pounding with fear. Sienna had just been hurt, and in Amberโ€™s mind, she could already begin to imagine scenes of Sienna barely escaping death.

What would I do if something happened to Sienna? Amber thought, panic rising in her chest. Just thinking about eating by myself, sleeping by myself, growing old all alone...I donโ€™t want Sienna to die! After school, I'll take her to see a doctor!

But first, Amber had to go to school. If she was late, Claire would definitely scold her.

Sienna, wait for me. I'll be back soon, Amber promised silently.

Quietly, on the TV, there was a news report about a fire that broke out last night. Amberโ€™s gaze turned determined. She clenched her fists, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and took one last lingering look at Sienna. With firm resolve, she stepped out of the door.

Sienna thought Amber had just given her a really weird look, unsure of what was going through her mind.
