Chapter 132
Amber's mind was spinning the whole way over, worry written all over her face as she finally reached Claire.
Claire waved her hand in front of Amber, but she didnโt respond. Puzzled, Claire quickly reached out and grabbed Amber when she saw her nearly step on a small rock. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" Claire asked, concern clear in her voice.
Amber looked at her and said solemnly. "Sienna's hurt."
"What? Sienna's hurt! How bad is it? Is she in the hospital? When did this happen? Where's she injured?" Claire fired off a series of questions, her voice filled with worry.
"She's not in the hospital. Her arm's hurt, and I think someone's after her," Amber said, her voice low and tense.
Claire's lips twitched in surprise, but she quickly started thinking and asked, "Do you have any proof?"
Amber shared her suspicions with Claire.
Claire's face grew serious. "From what you've described, this is no small matter. Sienna is currently the most famous woman in Vallaris, having fought her way to the top among some of the most powerful figures. She even crushed the Winslow Group. In the business world, ruthless competition is inevitable. Sienna's position is incredibly dangerous.โ
Amber's face was tight with worry and panic. "What should I do? I can't let anything happen to Sienna. If something does, what am I supposed to do?"
Claire mulled it over for a while before finally saying, "Get her a badass bodyguard!"
"That's a great idea!" Amber clapped her hands, her eyes lighting up. If someone had protected Sienna, then no one would have been able to hurt her.
"Since you said you need a doctor, I'll go with you after school. I'm sure my brother knows plenty of top doctors," Claire said.
"Okay, Claire, thank you," Amber replied, relief flooding her voice.
Claire put an arm around Amber's shoulders. "You're my best friend. No need to thank me. But let me make one thing clear: I'm your only best friend. Everyone else is second best."
"Sure," Amber nodded.
The two of them happily headed to class. Today was the day the exam results would be announced, and Claire eagerly dragged Amber into the crowd to check the scores.
When Claire saw that Amber was no longer at the bottom, she felt even prouder than Amber herself and cheered out loud. "Amber! You're not last anymore. You're not! Let me see what place you got."
With that, Claire began carefully searching the list for Amberโs name.
Amber's heart raced with both excitement and nervousness. "So this is what it feels like to not be dead last," she thought.
"Amber! Amber! You're tenth in the whole grade! Tenth placer!" Claire couldnโt quite believe it at first. She double-checked several times, and when she confirmed that Amber was ranked tenth, her eyes widened in shock.
Amber also rushed over to check, and when she saw her own results, she happily threw herself into Claireโs arms. "Claire, is this really happening?" Amber gasped, her voice filled with disbelief and joy.
After Amber and Claire became friends, Amber promised to study hard and improve her grades. They both agreed to never be late, never leave early, and never skip class.
When it came to homework, Amber never asked Claire for help; Claire knew Amber had her own pride. Instead of interfering, Claire silently cheered her on.
When other students saw Amberโs results, they immediately doubted how someone who used to be at the bottom could rise so quickly.
"Amber, you'd better just admit it. With grades like yours, no one would believe you didnโt cheat," someone snapped.
