Chapter 266

After what felt like an eternity, they finally let go, and both could see the awkwardness on each otherโ€™s faces.

Sienna Hart offered a smile. โ€œHave a seat.โ€

Finn Eaton walked over. โ€œI never thought weโ€™d meet again like this. Honestly, Iโ€™m a bit ashamed.โ€

He wondered, โ€œWhat was she thinking when she saw me locked up in that cage, being sold like that?โ€ He just felt so humiliated, wishing he could find a place to hide for a while.

Just when he thought things couldnโ€™t get any worse, fate decided to throw him another curveball. Of all times to run into the one he cared about most, it just had to be when he was at his lowest.

โ€œIโ€™m surprised too, Finn! Where have you been all these years?โ€ Sienna asked. Sheโ€™d been back for almost half a year now, but there hadnโ€™t been any news about him at all.

Finn gave her a gentle smile as he poured her some tea. โ€œIโ€™ve been down south, just scraping by with some small business. Things got a little messy in Pyreson this past year, so I thought Iโ€™d come take a look. Didnโ€™t expect to end up in trouble.โ€

Sienna let out a laugh. โ€œThe mighty young master of the Eaton family, talking about barely making a living?โ€

Catching the teasing in her tone, Finn was a little sheepish. โ€œThanks for helping me out this time, Sienna.โ€

Sienna looked up at him. He was just as gentle and noble as ever. Even dressed in nothing but a plain white shirt, he still couldnโ€™t hide that refined aura.

โ€œWhat about you? Where have you been all these years?โ€ There was a hint of urgency in Finnโ€™s voice, but before he could finish, an urgent knock sounded at the door.

Finn stood up. โ€œThatโ€™s probably for me.โ€

Sienna shook her head. โ€œNo, itโ€™s for me.โ€

Thorn Noir burst in and went straight to hug Sienna. โ€œYou vanished on me again without a word. Are you trying to scare me to death?โ€

Waves of sour, stifling pain crashed through Finnโ€™s chest, making it almost impossible to breathe. โ€˜So this is what it feels like to fall from heaven to hell in a single moment?โ€™ he thought bitterly.

He couldnโ€™t tell if it was just his heart aching โ€“ all he knew was the pain. โ€œSo she already has a family!โ€ he thought.

Sienna pushed Thorn away, her face turning cold. โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Thorn was about to answer when he caught sight of Finn standing nearby. He felt an intense sense of danger heโ€™d never known before. He knew there was definitely something going on between this man and Sienna.

Just by standing there alone, Finn seemed absolutely flawless, making Thorn feel completely overshadowed.

โ€œWho is he?โ€ Thorn demanded, not backing down.

One of Finnโ€™s men, Evan Ash, rushed in. He was about to call out to Finn. Finn quickly walked over to him. โ€œIโ€™m fine. Go on ahead.โ€ His voice sounded as calm as ever, but only he could feel the tremor beneath the surface.

โ€œYes, sir.โ€ Evan glanced at Sienna and was stunned for a moment. โ€œIsnโ€™t that the girl from the painting hanging in Mr. Eatonโ€™s room?โ€ he thought.

โ€œSheโ€™s so beautiful. I always thought the young master just imagined her when he painted, but she actually exists," he thought.

Before Sienna could speak, Finn cut her off. โ€œMy guys will bring the money up in a bit. Sorry, I have to go.โ€ He rushed out, leaving Sienna with the distinct impression that he was fleeing the scene โ€“ not because of any real emergency.

Once he was gone, Sienna turned to Thorn, her voice icy. โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Thorn looked at her with a pitiful pout. โ€œI just missed you, alright?โ€ he said, scooting closer to her.
