Chapter 267
Sienna shifted aside. "Thorn, do you seriously have nothing better to do than hovering around me all day? I wouldnโt mind shipping you off to Zambea to dig for gold.โ
โOnly if you come with me."
The sound of two crisp slaps rang out, and Thorn got booted right out the door with bright red handprints on his cheeks. Everyone outside sucked in a sharp breath, almost feeling that hurt.
Thorn shot them a glare and strutted away. But when he ran into Finn downstairs, he stopped and warned, โWhateverโs going on between you two, from now on, keep your distance from her.โ
Finn noticed the red handprints on Thornโs face and he started to suspect that maybe their relationship wasnโt what he had imagined.
โWho are you to warn me?โ Finn asked.
Finn might look all gentle and refined, but actually he was the hardest to deal with, because one could never see through that calm, polished mask.
As Thorn glared at that annoyingly perfect face, something dark and twisted curled up inside him. โSheโs been by my side for ten years. So, you tell me, what do you think I am?โ
The suspicion had turned into a confirmed move. Finnโs hand tightened behind his back, and he lowered his gaze, quietly swallowing the pain inside.
Thorn walked off with a smug grin, even though deep down he knew he was just lying to himself. He could tell this guy was troubleโthe way Sienna spoke to him, Thorn had never heard her talk to anyone else like that before.
Thorn could pretty much guessโthis was her first love, the only man whoโd ever really left a mark on her life.
He just couldnโt accept it. Siennaโs whole expression changed when this man showed up, but he had been by her side for ten years. However, he never even meant anything to her.
What gives him the right to just show up for a moment and turn her whole world upside down? Thorn fumed inwardly.
Evan glanced at Thorn, wavering over whether to do something.
โItโs fine. Just take the money up to her. We need to get going."
Finn's lonely figure made Evanโs heart ache. That girl must be the one Mr. Eaton has been carrying a torch for all these years, but it looks like she already has someone in her life, he thought.
There was no way Finnโd ever come between a couple. He could only swallow it all, and bear the pain alone.
โPoor Mr. Eaton. Twentyโeight years old and still single. He just still hasnโt moved on," Thorn thought to himself.
โMiss, Mr. Eaton said he doesnโt have any cash on him right now. Please take a look at theseโif you like any of them, you can have them. Or he can swap it for something else, or just pay you back later if you prefer," Evan said carefully.
Sienna looked at the three items laid out before her: a jade necklace, a calligraphy scroll, and a piece of pitchโblack jade. Just the jade necklace alone was worth well over twenty million.
She picked up the calligraphy scroll. โJust one will do.โ
Evan knew perfectly well that these were all priceless treasures, and Mr. Eaton just handed them over to her without even blinking. That alone said everything about how important Sienna was to him.
โMiss, Mr. Eaton insisted you have them all. If you donโt take them, Iโll be punished.โ
โAlright," Sienna replied with a sigh.
Lana took the items, and Sienna asked, โWhere did he go?โ
Evan replied honestly, โMr. Eaton bought a mine on the island to the southeast. Heโs dug up a few tons of goods and is planning to ship everything back home by sea.โ
โGot it.โ Sienna nodded.
Lana looked puzzled. โMiss Hart, is this guy an idiot? He just gave away his bossโs whereabouts right in front of us?โ
