Other ladies joined in, whispering among themselves. Their gazes toward Ingrid were now filled with suspicion, disdain, and scorn. They were thinking that the heir of the Johnson family couldn’t have picked someone worse to have an affair with.

Ingrid couldn’t bear the weight of their judgmental stares, and her body trembled slightly.

Evelyn had always been looked down upon by high society because of her lowly background. After years of effort, she had finally been accepted into the group. Miranda said, “Then, apologize sincerely to me.”

Ingrid was taken aback. She didn’t expect Miranda to let her off so easily. “Just like that?” she asked incredulously.

“What else?” Miranda replied calmly. Did Ingrid think she would have to get on her knees and beg for mercy?

Ingrid wasn’t foolish. She seized the opportunity and apologized before Miranda could change her mind. “I’m sorry.”

“Ms. Sutton is not only beautiful, but she’s also magnanimous.”

“That’s right, Ms. Sutton has such a generous temperament. If you ask me, she shouldn’t have let her off so easily. She needs to learn a lesson this time, or she might cause more trouble in the future. Don’t you agree, Mrs. Johnson?”

What else could Evelyn say? Did she even dare disagree?
