Chapter 483: I Will Get Her Out Of Jail

After receiving treatment at the hospital, Elliot couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. He looked out the window but saw nothing. "That's weird," he muttered. Elliot trusted his instincts. He feigned sleep, hoping to catch a glimpse of his observer. Eventually, he saw a man with a camera hastily crouching in the bushes.

Elliot's eyes narrowed, a look reminiscent of Nathaniel's thoughtful expression. "Darn it," he said. "Can't you at least take my pictures when I'm looking my best?" Despite his attempt at humor, his curiosity remained.

Lost in thought, Cecilia knocked. "Sweetie, did you rest well? Time to go home."

Elliot nodded. "Okay."

He dressed and followed Cecilia from the hospital. "Mommy, has that bad woman been arrested? She can't get out, can she?" The "bad woman" was Paula.

Cecilia nodded and hummed.

"That's good then." Elliot glanced around but saw no sign of his photographer.

Meanwhile, chaos reigned at the Evans residence. The incident with Paula had significantly impacted Evans Group's stock, leaving Ralph perpetually gloomy. Magnus, however, remained sprawled on the couch, engrossed in a computer game, seemingly oblivious to the turmoil.

This aggravated Ralph. "Can't you get off your lazy butt and find a job? You're always at home, freeloading off your parents. Your mom's already in jailโ€”do you want to join her?"

Magnus slammed his mouse on the table. "Freeloading? The money you're spendingโ€”every pennyโ€”comes from my family, the Smiths!"

"The ink on my mother's prison sentence is barely dry, and you dare show me attitude? Do you think I can't make you regret every bite you've ever taken?" Magnus glared fiercely.

Intimidated, Ralph quickly averted his gaze. "I'm just trying to encourage you to pull yourself together."

Ralph's fear stemmed from an incident six years prior, when Magnus and Paula transferred their wealth to him under an agreement stipulating that mistreatment would allow them to reclaim their assets.

Magnus lounged back, crossing his legs. "You better mean what you said. Figure out a way to get my mom out as soon as possible. She's not accustomed to that place." He knew Paula's presence secured his position.

"Okay, got it. I have a plan. Once the buzz dies down, she'll be out," Ralph said confidently. To him, money solved everything. He believed he could secure Paula's release; Cassandra hadn't married into the Rainsworth family yet, and a convicted murderer stepmother would be disastrous.

Cassandra descended the stairs. "Dad, Mom wants to see me. I need to visit her." "Mom" referred exclusively to Queenie.

"All right, go ahead," Ralph replied.

Before leaving, Cassandra glared at Magnus. "You're nothing but a leech, draining the Evans family. You've ruined the Smiths, and now you're trying to do the same here. Have you no shame?"

She left, drove to see Queenie. Though not her biological mother, Queenie's influence suppressed the scandal, shielding Cassandra from implications. Queenie's PR team effectively criticized Paula, highlighting Cassandra's achievements and minimizing her stepmother's role. Public sympathy swung towards Cassandra.
