Chapter 511 Seek Happiness

โ€œWhere are we going?โ€ Nathaniel asked as the car began to move.

โ€œItโ€™s St. Patrickโ€™s Day. Weโ€™re seeking happiness, naturally,โ€ Zachary replied. He and his group usually spent the holiday at the Royale Club.

โ€œTell the driver to turn around,โ€ Nathaniel said, initially believing there was an urgent matter. There wasnโ€™t, so he wished to return and keep Cecilia company.

Zachary complied, asking, โ€œYou want to keep Cecilia company again?โ€ He'd already changed his reference to Cecilia from "the deaf woman" to simply "Cecilia."

Nathaniel, unsurprised, asked, โ€œWhat else?โ€ He added, โ€œYou should spend time with Vivian too.โ€ Vivian was Cecilia's best friend; winning her over would strengthen his relationship with Cecilia.

Zachary immediately balked. โ€œIn that case, Iโ€™ll go back with you to see Cecilia.โ€

Nathaniel was speechless. Only Zachary would utter such words. Zachary wanted to see Cecilia and the child. On the way back to the Rainsworth residence, he asked, โ€œNathaniel, was the child conceived before Cecilia left?โ€ He remembered the five-year-old test results confirming Cecilia's pregnancy before her departure.

Nathaniel paused, then asked, โ€œWhy so many questions?โ€

Zachary choked back a sob. Upon arriving, he eagerly tried to enter, but Nathaniel stopped him. โ€œYou can go back now. Itโ€™s inconvenient; the whole family is here.โ€

โ€œNonsense. Iโ€™ll leave as soon as I see the child,โ€ Zachary insisted.

Cecilia, reading indoors, heard voices and stepped outside. Seeing Zachary, a chill ran through her.

Zacharyโ€™s demeanor shifted. โ€œCecilia.โ€

Cecilia was startled. โ€œDonโ€™t address me so formally, Mr. Sinclair. I canโ€™t handle it,โ€ she said icily.

Zachary felt a pang of remorse. He'd held back for a long time, but now he couldn't contain himself. โ€œCecilia, I was wrong. I understand everything now.โ€

Heโ€™d planned to research her hearing impairment before apologizing, but repeated encounters had changed his mind. He'd also found a way to improve her condition, confident in her full recovery.

Nathaniel remained silent, observing Zachary's attempt at an apology and no longer urging his departure. Certain matters needed clarification.

Cecilia remained calm, her eyes devoid of emotion.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry. I wrongly believed Stella saved me; thatโ€™s whyโ€ฆโ€ Zachary struggled to find the words. He produced the emerald dragon pendant heโ€™d given Cecilia. โ€œFive years ago, after you left, I found this among your belongings. Without it, I might still be unaware of the truth.โ€

Cecilia then realized Stella had taken credit. She found Zachary and Elena both laughable and pitiful for their ignorance of who truly saved them.

Zachary stepped forward, offering the pendant. โ€œI know words canโ€™t atone, and I havenโ€™t moved past my mistake. But would you accept this? Iโ€™ll make amends. Is that okay?โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s no need. I saved you without expectation of repayment,โ€ Cecilia said coldly. โ€œI certainly donโ€™t need it now. Take it back.โ€ The memory of Zachary's past harm caused a faint ringing in her ears.
