Chapter 511 Seek Happiness
โWhere are we going?โ Nathaniel asked as the car began to move.
โItโs St. Patrickโs Day. Weโre seeking happiness, naturally,โ Zachary replied. He and his group usually spent the holiday at the Royale Club.
โTell the driver to turn around,โ Nathaniel said, initially believing there was an urgent matter. There wasnโt, so he wished to return and keep Cecilia company.
Zachary complied, asking, โYou want to keep Cecilia company again?โ He'd already changed his reference to Cecilia from "the deaf woman" to simply "Cecilia."
Nathaniel, unsurprised, asked, โWhat else?โ He added, โYou should spend time with Vivian too.โ Vivian was Cecilia's best friend; winning her over would strengthen his relationship with Cecilia.
Zachary immediately balked. โIn that case, Iโll go back with you to see Cecilia.โ
Nathaniel was speechless. Only Zachary would utter such words. Zachary wanted to see Cecilia and the child. On the way back to the Rainsworth residence, he asked, โNathaniel, was the child conceived before Cecilia left?โ He remembered the five-year-old test results confirming Cecilia's pregnancy before her departure.
Nathaniel paused, then asked, โWhy so many questions?โ
Zachary choked back a sob. Upon arriving, he eagerly tried to enter, but Nathaniel stopped him. โYou can go back now. Itโs inconvenient; the whole family is here.โ
โNonsense. Iโll leave as soon as I see the child,โ Zachary insisted.
Cecilia, reading indoors, heard voices and stepped outside. Seeing Zachary, a chill ran through her.
Zacharyโs demeanor shifted. โCecilia.โ
Cecilia was startled. โDonโt address me so formally, Mr. Sinclair. I canโt handle it,โ she said icily.
Zachary felt a pang of remorse. He'd held back for a long time, but now he couldn't contain himself. โCecilia, I was wrong. I understand everything now.โ
Heโd planned to research her hearing impairment before apologizing, but repeated encounters had changed his mind. He'd also found a way to improve her condition, confident in her full recovery.
Nathaniel remained silent, observing Zachary's attempt at an apology and no longer urging his departure. Certain matters needed clarification.
Cecilia remained calm, her eyes devoid of emotion.
โIโm sorry. I wrongly believed Stella saved me; thatโs whyโฆโ Zachary struggled to find the words. He produced the emerald dragon pendant heโd given Cecilia. โFive years ago, after you left, I found this among your belongings. Without it, I might still be unaware of the truth.โ
Cecilia then realized Stella had taken credit. She found Zachary and Elena both laughable and pitiful for their ignorance of who truly saved them.
Zachary stepped forward, offering the pendant. โI know words canโt atone, and I havenโt moved past my mistake. But would you accept this? Iโll make amends. Is that okay?โ
โThereโs no need. I saved you without expectation of repayment,โ Cecilia said coldly. โI certainly donโt need it now. Take it back.โ The memory of Zachary's past harm caused a faint ringing in her ears.
