Chapter 561 The Jealous Husband

โ€œItโ€™s a long story,โ€ Cecilia said hesitantly. Eric deemed it best not to press further.

โ€œItโ€™s fine. If you donโ€™t want to talk about it, then donโ€™t.โ€

โ€œI know.โ€

โ€œAnyway, Iโ€™ll be heading back. Next time, remember to bring Jon and Eli along.โ€ He was fond of Jonathan and Elliot, and they of him.

Cecilia nodded. โ€œAlright.โ€

As Eric left, Sven emerged from the car. He approached Cecilia with an update.

โ€œIf my information is correct, Jonathanโ€™s kidnapper is closely related to Cassandra.โ€

โ€œCassandra?โ€ Ceciliaโ€™s eyes narrowed slightly. She had considered this possibility, but still believed blood ties held some weight. Cassandra's resentment stemmed solely from her limited encounters with Nicholas.

โ€œAre you sure?โ€ Cecilia asked.

โ€œThe person Jon drew is Scorpius Jiminez, a close confidant of Queenie, whoโ€™s fled abroad,โ€ Sven replied.

Queenieโ€ฆ Cecilia remembered Queenieโ€™s recent threats.

โ€œI understand,โ€ she said. โ€œLetโ€™s keep this quiet for now.โ€ The Jamieson family possessed the resources to orchestrate a kidnapping and obstruct the Sinclairs. She was currently outmatched by Queenie, powerless against her attempts to harm Jonathan and herself.

โ€œMmm-hmm.โ€ Sven understood.

Meanwhile, the Rainsworth and Sinclair families also quickly traced the incident back to the Jamiesons. However, their familial connection through marriage prevented a direct confrontation. As long as Jonathan remained unharmed, they lacked sufficient grounds for action.

Niel advised Nathaniel, โ€œDonโ€™t do anything foolish.โ€ He then contacted Queenie, warning her to rein herself in; any further transgressions would be met with merciless retribution.

Nathaniel, though reluctant, recognized the inopportune timing. His new company was still fragile. Queenie, soon to be Nicholasโ€™ mother-in-law, was an unavoidable issue he'd have to address eventually.

Returning home, Nathaniel withheld the information from Cecilia, fearing it might cause her undue worry. Unbeknownst to him, she already knew.

โ€œWhat did you eat out with your friend today?โ€ he asked subtly.

โ€œThe usual,โ€ Cecilia replied vaguely.

Elliot sensed Nathanielโ€™s curiosity. After Cecilia left the table, he whispered, โ€œMr. Rainsworth, are you curious about who Mommy had dinner with?โ€

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow. โ€œWho is it?โ€

โ€œYou want to know, huh? Beg me,โ€ Elliot smirked.

Nathaniel resisted the urge to punch him, fearing repercussions from Cecilia. He continued eating, dampening Elliotโ€™s enthusiasm.

โ€œAll you have to do is beg me, and Iโ€™ll tell you.โ€

Nathanielโ€™s continued silence annoyed Elliot. โ€œIf you donโ€™t want to, fine, but show some sincerity.โ€ Nathaniel seemed to understand his son's game and chose to ignore him.

โ€œI donโ€™t want to know anymore,โ€ Nathaniel said, standing. โ€œIโ€™m done eating.โ€

Elliot was surprised. He felt perceptive, yet strangely unable to fathom Nathaniel's thoughts.

โ€œMr. Rainsworth, donโ€™t go. My mom met a mega movie star today. Heโ€™s incredibly handsome.โ€

Nathaniel paused, then turned.

โ€œWhatโ€™s his name?โ€

โ€œIf you want to know, youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œBesides begging, Iโ€™ll give you anything you want.โ€
