Chapter 568: Seeking Queenie Out

After Magnus exited the car, Jocelyn, Nicholasโ€™s assistant, voiced her confusion. โ€œMr. Nicholas,โ€ she said, โ€œIโ€™ve investigated this man. He possesses no business acumen whatsoever. Under his management, Smith Corporation suffered significant losses for three years. The situation only improved after Mr. Nathaniel acquired it. Furthermore, he even transferred the Smith family lands to others. It was incredibly foolish.โ€

Jocelyn considered Magnus the epitome of a spoiled, privileged child, incapable of accomplishing anything beyond his desire to be a boss. She believed his familyโ€™s wealth could easily be squandered, regardless of its magnitude.

Leaning back in his chair, Nicholas murmured, โ€œI donโ€™t need him to make money for me.โ€

This only deepened Jocelynโ€™s confusion. However, she understood Nicholasโ€™s temperament; serving him required action and minimal commentary.

โ€œMr. Nicholas,โ€ Jocelyn said, โ€œImminence Corporation has recently poached all the artists under our banner.โ€

โ€œHave you identified those behind the company?โ€ Nicholas asked.

Jocelyn shook her head. โ€œNo. Itโ€™s registered abroad. Iโ€™ve also discovered that Imminence Corporation has similarly targeted other companies, taking most of their projects.โ€

Nicholas rubbed his temples, clearly exhausted. Jocelyn recognized the pressure he faced. He had recently taken over Orion Corporation, and crucial projects, now even artists, were departing.

โ€œMr. Nicholas,โ€ Jocelyn suggested, โ€œif the Jamieson family were willing to collaborate again, those shareholders wouldn't dare oppose you.โ€

โ€œI understand,โ€ Nicholas replied, immediately dialing Cassandraโ€™s number.

Cassandra, having just left the stage, saw Nicholasโ€™s call and answered with excitement.

โ€œLetโ€™s have dinner tonight,โ€ Nicholas said.

โ€œOkay,โ€ Cassandra replied, her face alight with joy after hanging up. Thanks to Queenie, this was the first time Nicholas had personally sought Cassandra out.

Meanwhile, at the theater, after watching her daughterโ€™s performance and listening to the music accompanying Cassandraโ€™s dance, Queenie was deeply moved.

โ€œThis song is lovely,โ€ she commented to Cassandraโ€™s assistant.

The assistant smiled. โ€œThe young lady worked tirelessly to secure the copyright from the renowned foreign composer, Ms. Cecille.โ€ She added regretfully, โ€œIt was extremely difficult. We even attempted to purchase the rights, but she refused.โ€

Hearing this, Queenie considered Cassandraโ€™s upcoming birthday and decided to help. At that moment, Cassandra emerged from backstage.

โ€œMom,โ€ Cassandra said.

Queenie embraced her daughter. โ€œThank you, Mom, but I can't keep you company today. Nicholas has invited me to dinner.โ€

โ€œAll right,โ€ Queenie replied, though inexplicably disheartened.

She left the theater alone, without her assistant or bodyguard. Walking through the snow, she was stopped by a voice.

โ€œMadam Queenie.โ€

Startled, Queenie turned to see Cecilia standing beside a car. Cecilia, having used Sven to locate Queenie, sought a confrontation. After all, Queenie had harmed Jonathan.

Queenie narrowed her eyes, observing Cecilia approach. Noticing the injury on Ceciliaโ€™s face, she feigned ignorance. โ€œMs. Smith, what happened to you?โ€

Cecilia was blunt. โ€œDon't I have you to thank for this injury, Madam Queenie?โ€

Queenie remained calm. โ€œKnowing what you know, you still dare to seek me out?โ€

Cecilia showed no intimidation. Like a mother protecting her child, she would do anything.

Suddenly, Queenie felt a dagger pressed against her abdomen.

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t dare!โ€ Queenie exclaimed, incredulous.

โ€œWhy wouldnโ€™t I?โ€ Cecilia retorted, her grip tightening, tearing through Queenieโ€™s clothing.

โ€œMy bodyguard is nearby,โ€ Queenie stated calmly. โ€œIf I die here, don't think you can escape.โ€
