Chapter 588: I Do Not Have a Wife

Elena was taken aback.

“What?”

Elliot sighed. “I miss my mommy and daddy so much. They must be longing to see me. You have a son, too, right? If he were in the hospital and you couldn't see him, wouldn't you be heartbroken?”

Elliot hadn’t seen Cecilia all day. He learned from his bodyguard that Nathaniel had forbidden anyone from seeing him without permission. He despised Nathaniel anew.

Listening to Elliot's pronouncements, Elena felt a mixture of amusement and annoyance. His words clearly indicated he was unaware Nathaniel was his father. Secretly clenching her fists, her disdain for Cecilia intensified.

“Eli, Mr. Rainsworth is your real father.”

Elliot understood her intentions. “You’re lying.”

He refused to continue the conversation, tossing the toys she’d brought back at her one by one. Elena dodged them swiftly.

“Eli, how could you throw things at your grandmother?”

“You’re a bad person!”

Elliot's antics ultimately chased Elena away. She was puzzled. Nathaniel and Nicholas had been exceptionally well-behaved children; why was Elliot so unruly?

“Cecilia doesn’t know how to raise children,” Elena muttered unhappily in the car.

Her secretary, not much younger than herself, replied, “The younger generation… they really don’t know how to raise children. You were so dedicated raising Mr. Nathaniel and Mr. Nicholas.”

Feeling better equipped to educate her grandson, Elena called Nathaniel.

“Nathaniel, bring Eli back to Rainsworth Manor. Arrange for a specialized medical team. He’s not young, his health isn’t good, and he needs to study. Hire dedicated tutors.”

Nathaniel, pinching the bridge of his nose, replied from his office chair, “I have my own plans.”

“What’s going on with you? Have you thrown all your principles to the wind after losing your memory?”

“My memory returned some time ago,” Nathaniel said calmly.

Elena paused, then considered how she’d let Nicholas manage his work. She felt a pang of guilt.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Is this really important?”

Elena was speechless. She was about to explain why she’d asked Nicholas to take his place at Orion Corporation when he interrupted, “Don’t call me unless it’s something important.”

He hung up. Cecilia hadn’t called him once. Mason reported she remained in the caregiver’s room, never venturing out.

That night, Cecilia received a call from Eric. He said he didn’t understand parts of a composition and wanted to discuss them. It was only seven o'clock, so she agreed to meet him nearby.

Unbeknownst to her, Nathaniel was watching, having people follow her. They followed her when she left.

Aiden had chosen a private restaurant requiring reservations—not a place the average person would frequent.

“Ceci.”

Eric stood outside, removing his sunglasses to wave.

Worried about being recognized, Cecilia hurried.

“Why didn’t you wait for me inside? What if someone sees you?”

“What’s the problem? I don’t have a wife. Even if people see us, we’re just dating.” Eric was unconcerned about rumors.

Cecilia felt helpless. They entered the restaurant together. The bodyguard relayed their conversation to Nathaniel.
