Chapter 589: The Confrontation

โ€œWhat would happen if someone were to see us?โ€ Nathaniel chuckled. The driverโ€™s forehead glistened with cold sweat. โ€œGo to the hospital,โ€ Nathaniel instructed.

โ€œRight away.โ€

Inside, Elliot was creating a disturbance, refusing to eat. โ€œI want to see my mommy. Why hasnโ€™t she come? Mommyโ€ฆโ€ The nanny was exasperated. โ€œEli, youโ€™ve always been so obedient. Please behave this time.โ€ Elliot, usually compliant, was distraught over Ceciliaโ€™s absence. โ€œIโ€™m not eating. Call my mommy.โ€ The nanny was troubled; she couldnโ€™t contact Cecilia.

The ward door opened, revealing Nathaniel. โ€œMr. Rainsworth,โ€ the nanny greeted. โ€œLeave us,โ€ he ordered. After the nanny and bodyguard departed, only Elliot and Nathaniel remained.

Elliot stared at Nathanielโ€™s somber face. โ€œMr. Rainsworth, whereโ€™s my mommy?โ€ Nathaniel sat down. โ€œDo I need to tell you again? Call me Daddy.โ€ His voice was firm. Elliotโ€™s face flushed. While he easily called Calvin โ€œDaddy,โ€ he couldnโ€™t bring himself to address his biological father as such. โ€œHmph, youโ€™re not my daddy.โ€

โ€œDo you want to see the paternity test?โ€ Nathaniel asked.

Elliot feigned ignorance. โ€œWhat paternity test? I donโ€™t understand, nor do I care.โ€ Nathaniel, unlike Cecilia, saw through Elliotโ€™s clever act. He knew Elliot and Jonathan shared a similar intelligence.

โ€œI have a question,โ€ Nathaniel said. โ€œDoes your mommy say Iโ€™m a bad person?โ€ Elliot didnโ€™t find this strange. Cecilia rarely mentioned Nathaniel, and her emotions became volatile whenever she saw him in the media. Nathaniel had noticed this and initiated an investigation by Jonathan, revealing their shared parentage.

โ€œMy mommy would never gossip,โ€ Elliot replied cautiously.

Nathaniel fell silent. โ€œWhere did my mommy go?โ€ Elliot pressed. โ€œSheโ€™s having dinner with a superstar,โ€ Nathaniel replied, his voice heavy.

โ€œMr. Eric?โ€

Nathaniel remained silent. โ€œItโ€™s all your fault,โ€ Elliot declared. โ€œIf you hadnโ€™t forbidden Mommy from seeing me, she wouldnโ€™t have gone out to dine with someone else! Sheโ€™d be with me now.โ€ He understood Nathanielโ€™s grim expression.

โ€œShe enjoys dining with others. What does that have to do with me?โ€

Nathaniel sighed. โ€œEat quickly, or Iโ€™ll have them throw the food away.โ€ Learning Cecilia was with someone else, Elliot ate obediently, observing Nathaniel. That scumbag daddy still cares about Mommy. Is he jealous? He decided to offer comfort.

โ€œMr. Rainsworth, my mommy is very beautiful. Itโ€™s normal for her to have many suitors. As men, we should be magnanimous.โ€

Nathaniel glanced at him. โ€œShut up and eat.โ€

Elliot ceased his attempts at consolation and ate in silence. Afterward, the bodyguard removed the leftovers. Cecilia still hadnโ€™t returned. Nathaniel intended to review his Braille documents, but Elliotโ€™s words distracted him. He couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œBesides Eric, who else is pursuing Cecilia?โ€
