Chapter 590: A Dozen Suitors
Elliot knew immediately that Nathaniel was jealous. He deliberately began counting on his fingers, โOne, two, threeโฆ there must be at least a dozen men, all quite handsome.โ
A dozen menโฆ This revelation shocked Nathaniel. He recalled that when he married Cecilia, few men surrounded her. Now, over a dozen were vying for her attention?
โSo, did she accept them?โ
Elliot lay back on the hospital bed, gently patting his full stomach, playing coy. โI donโt know. Iโm not by her side most of the time.โ
Nathaniel rose. โYou should get some rest.โ
Elliot immediately reached for his hand. Touching his father's broad, slender hand, he experienced this sensation for the first time.
โMr. Rainsworth, where are you going?โ
Nathaniel didnโt answer, instead asking, โIs there anything else?โ
Elliot, feeling heโd teased enough, wanted to avoid misunderstanding. โYou know what? Iโve seen you on the news. Every time you appeared on TV, Mommy would just stare blankly.โ
Nathanielโs expression grew complex. โGo to sleep.โ
โAlright.โ Elliot obeyed.
Nathaniel left, asking his bodyguard for the time. โItโs nine oโclock,โ the bodyguard replied. Nine oโclock, and she still hadnโt returned. Nathaniel remained at the hospital, taking up residence in the guest room of Elliotโs suite.
Meanwhile, Cecilia and Eric discussed discordant notes in a song. She quietly made a note of them.
โWhy didnโt Eli and Jon come along?โ At the mention of Eli and Jonathan, Cecilia sighed while Jonathan stared intently. After finishing their meal, the two left. Eric opened the car door. โGet in. Iโll give you a ride home.โ
Since dropping Cecilia off at Dalhrem Villa, Eric had been busy. Heโd recently revisited the villa, discovering to his surprise that it was owned by Nathanielโs corporation. Cecilia mentioned it was her husbandโs property. Eric searched again for Nathanielโs wife.
โNo need. Iโm heading to a nearby hospital. Itโs not far.โ
Eric immediately suggested, โThen Iโll walk you there. Itโs a good chance for me to stretch my legs.โ
Given the late hour, the streets were deserted. Even if people were present, they were unlikely to recognize Eric. Cecilia agreed. In a concealed spot, a paparazzo peeked out, discreetly snapping pictures of the two.
During their walk, Ericโs curiosity overcame him. โWhen you were younger, was your husband Nathaniel Rainsworth?โ
As the heir to the Rainsworth Group and former president of Orton Corporation, he was well-known.
Cecilia paused, nodding. โMmm-hmm.โ
โIn that case, why were you living abroad alone with two kids?โ Eric hadnโt expected the CEO of the Rainsworth Group to abandon his wife and son.
โItโs a long story. Letโs talk about it another time.โ Cecilia avoided the topic.
Eric, noticing this, changed the subject. โWould you like to join me in helping those disabled children this time?โ He was known for his charitable work; despite his celebrity status, his efforts were sincere. A significant portion of his wealth went to those in need. This explained his lack of detractors and intensely loyal fanbase.
Cecilia, after considering, declined. โEli isnโt well right now. I want to spend more time caring for him.โ
As they talked, they reached the hospital entrance. Cecilia instantly recognized a familiar figure standing there.
