Chapter 590: A Dozen Suitors

Elliot knew immediately that Nathaniel was jealous. He deliberately began counting on his fingers, โ€œOne, two, threeโ€ฆ there must be at least a dozen men, all quite handsome.โ€

A dozen menโ€ฆ This revelation shocked Nathaniel. He recalled that when he married Cecilia, few men surrounded her. Now, over a dozen were vying for her attention?

โ€œSo, did she accept them?โ€

Elliot lay back on the hospital bed, gently patting his full stomach, playing coy. โ€œI donโ€™t know. Iโ€™m not by her side most of the time.โ€

Nathaniel rose. โ€œYou should get some rest.โ€

Elliot immediately reached for his hand. Touching his father's broad, slender hand, he experienced this sensation for the first time.

โ€œMr. Rainsworth, where are you going?โ€

Nathaniel didnโ€™t answer, instead asking, โ€œIs there anything else?โ€

Elliot, feeling heโ€™d teased enough, wanted to avoid misunderstanding. โ€œYou know what? Iโ€™ve seen you on the news. Every time you appeared on TV, Mommy would just stare blankly.โ€

Nathanielโ€™s expression grew complex. โ€œGo to sleep.โ€

โ€œAlright.โ€ Elliot obeyed.

Nathaniel left, asking his bodyguard for the time. โ€œItโ€™s nine oโ€™clock,โ€ the bodyguard replied. Nine oโ€™clock, and she still hadnโ€™t returned. Nathaniel remained at the hospital, taking up residence in the guest room of Elliotโ€™s suite.

Meanwhile, Cecilia and Eric discussed discordant notes in a song. She quietly made a note of them.

โ€œWhy didnโ€™t Eli and Jon come along?โ€ At the mention of Eli and Jonathan, Cecilia sighed while Jonathan stared intently. After finishing their meal, the two left. Eric opened the car door. โ€œGet in. Iโ€™ll give you a ride home.โ€

Since dropping Cecilia off at Dalhrem Villa, Eric had been busy. Heโ€™d recently revisited the villa, discovering to his surprise that it was owned by Nathanielโ€™s corporation. Cecilia mentioned it was her husbandโ€™s property. Eric searched again for Nathanielโ€™s wife.

โ€œNo need. Iโ€™m heading to a nearby hospital. Itโ€™s not far.โ€

Eric immediately suggested, โ€œThen Iโ€™ll walk you there. Itโ€™s a good chance for me to stretch my legs.โ€

Given the late hour, the streets were deserted. Even if people were present, they were unlikely to recognize Eric. Cecilia agreed. In a concealed spot, a paparazzo peeked out, discreetly snapping pictures of the two.

During their walk, Ericโ€™s curiosity overcame him. โ€œWhen you were younger, was your husband Nathaniel Rainsworth?โ€

As the heir to the Rainsworth Group and former president of Orton Corporation, he was well-known.

Cecilia paused, nodding. โ€œMmm-hmm.โ€

โ€œIn that case, why were you living abroad alone with two kids?โ€ Eric hadnโ€™t expected the CEO of the Rainsworth Group to abandon his wife and son.

โ€œItโ€™s a long story. Letโ€™s talk about it another time.โ€ Cecilia avoided the topic.

Eric, noticing this, changed the subject. โ€œWould you like to join me in helping those disabled children this time?โ€ He was known for his charitable work; despite his celebrity status, his efforts were sincere. A significant portion of his wealth went to those in need. This explained his lack of detractors and intensely loyal fanbase.

Cecilia, after considering, declined. โ€œEli isnโ€™t well right now. I want to spend more time caring for him.โ€

As they talked, they reached the hospital entrance. Cecilia instantly recognized a familiar figure standing there.
