Chapter 606: People in Love Tend to Bicker
There was no need to choose. Elliot, naturally, wanted to attend kindergarten, just like his brother.
Before Cecilia could respond, Elliot eagerly hugged Nathaniel, saying ingratiatingly, "I want to go to kindergarten! Daddy, you're the best! Can I go to the same kindergarten as Jon?"
Jonathan couldn't conceal his disdain at his brother's shameless flattery. He didn't want Elliot attending the same school. "No way," he said flatly.
Elliot, though resembling Jonathan, possessed a natural charm and a knack for playing the sympathy card. He was always the center of attention. Whenever Elliot deployed his charm, Jonathan stood no chance.
Elliot hadn't anticipated Jonathan's rejection. He looked at him pitifully. "Why? Don't you love me anymore?"
Jonathan frowned, wishing he could tear up his book and use it to silence Elliot. "Keep that up, and I'll throw you out of the car," he said coldly.
His expression and behavior mirrored Nathaniel's, which annoyed Jonathan. Elliot pouted, pulling away from Jonathan and clinging to Nathaniel.
Nathaniel remembered his first encounter with Cecilia. She had mistaken him for Nicholas, clinging to his clothes and pleading adorably, "Please, Nathaniel. Please help me. I'm begging you. You're the best. Please?"
Looks like Eli inherited Cecilia's traits. If only I could have two more daughters just like Ceciliaโฆ
"Eli, you're not well," Cecilia said gently, "so how about we postpone kindergarten? Perhaps after your surgery in the second half of the year?" She didn't want to crush his hopes, but his health was her priority.
Elliot tightened his grip on Nathaniel. Scumbag daddy. Iโve already helped you hold hands with Mommy. Now itโs your turn to help me.
Nathaniel finally spoke. "Boys aren't that delicate. I'll have Mason arrange his school admission tomorrow."
Cecilia didn't display her anger in front of the children. Once they returned to Daltonia Villa, she summoned Nathaniel for a private conversation.
Alone outside, Cecilia said, irritated, "You know Eli's condition. If he goes to kindergarten and gets hurt, what then? And with so many children, what if fights break out? Have you considered all this?"
Cecilia wasn't against independence; she was worried about his health.
Nathaniel didn't relent. "He's my son. He's not that fragile. You'll ruin his future if you keep coddling him."
Coddling him?
Cecilia clenched her fists. "What gives you the right to criticize my parenting? Have you ever cared for them, even for a single day?"
"It's not like I don't want to!" Nathaniel retorted coldly. "Did you hear how Jonathan addresses me? 'Mr. Rainsworth!'"
He gripped her wrist. "Tell me, why is my son calling me 'Mr. Rainsworth'?"
Cecilia stood firm. "You promised a divorce, and you were with Stella. If I told you about them, how could we coexist? Do you want them neglected, like I am?"
The children, hidden nearby, overheard the argument. Jonathan frowned. "I thought you said Mommy had accepted him."
Elliot was puzzled. "Everything was fine. I don't know why they started arguing again. You know how it isโpeople in love just love to bicker."
Jonathan glared. As if I would believe you.
Tired of their constant bickering, Elliot went outside.
