Chapter 612: A Mother Is Strong For Her Children

A mother stood strong for her children. After much deliberation, Cecilia decided to begin preparations. She first contacted Erwin Bloggs, the preschool principal, expressing her intention to invest. Erwin readily agreed.

Subsequently, Cecilia gradually integrated herself into the mothers' group, observing their conversations and desires within the group chat. Busy days flew by. Rubbing sleep-filled eyes, Elliot called, "Mommy, can I eat now?"

"Yes," Cecilia replied, shutting down her computer and descending the stairs. Elliot strategically arranged for Cecilia and Nathaniel to sit together. "Mommy, please sit across from me," he requested. Nathaniel sat opposite. Cecilia noticed his silence before joining them.

The housekeeper had served Nathaniel's food; he no longer had to eat carrots. However, he ate little. Seated closely, Cecilia's arm brushed against him. Just as she considered creating distance, Nathaniel subtly reached under the table, grasped her chair, and pulled it closer.

The chair scraped loudly across the floor. Cecilia swayed, nearly falling into his arms. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"I couldn't see. Ah, I pulled the wrong chair," Nathaniel replied casually.

Cecilia considered moving the chair, but Nathaniel firmly held her hand. "Is this an accident, too?" she asked, growing irritated.

Elliot tactfully interjected, "Mommy, Daddy can't see, so you should be more understanding."

Cecilia was perplexed. She couldn't understand what Nathaniel had done to win Elliot's favor. She forcefully withdrew her hand and continued eating, her gaze lowered. The phone rang; it was Eric.

"Eric, what's wrong?" she asked, standing to answer.

The father and sons at the table instantly grew serious upon hearing Eric's name. Jonathan, aware of the scandal between Eric and Cecilia, worried for his mother. Elliot was about to eavesdrop, but Jonathan restrained him. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to eavesdrop on Mommy and Mr. Eric's conversation," Elliot replied.

Jonathan released him, cautioning, "Be careful. Don't let Mommy find out." Before he finished, Elliot slipped away. Nathaniel, having lost his appetite, instructed the bodyguards to listen outside.

Eric was in the car. "Could you have the song ready by this week, Ceci?" he asked.

"I've already revised it and just need to add the lyrics. I'll give it to you when I'm done," Cecilia replied. Most of her songs were self-composed and written.

"That's great. I can showcase my singing in Alendor," Eric said with a wry smile.

"Alendor? Why are you going so far away?" Cecilia asked.

Eric, embarrassed to admit a company had dropped him, replied, "It's a business trip, but I'll be back soon."

"I wish you a safe journey, then," Cecilia said, ending the call.

Elliot, secretly listening, found Eric's sudden trip to Alendor odd. Seeing Cecilia return, he rejoined the table, pretending nothing had happened.

After dinner, the family relaxed in the living room until nine o'clock, when Cecilia sent the children to bed. She then continued writing lyrics.
