Chapter 629: The Situation Is Resolved

Bowing their heads, Oscar and his wife murmured, "We're sorry," to Jonathan.

Cecilia reflected on the situation. Had she not been wealthy, or had Zachary not intervened, would they have apologized? No. They would have continued to exploit their wealth and bully them. Even without investigation, she knew their wrongdoing was extensive. Their apology felt insufficient. However, with the children present, Cecilia made no further demands. The matter was resolved.

Oscar and his wife breathed a sigh of relief. Zachary's intervention had averted a potentially disastrous situation. Camila, too, felt a sense of reliefโ€”short-lived, as it turned out.

After leaving the school, Oscar received a call from his secretary. "What now?" he snapped impatiently. "Why do you keep calling? I swear I'll fire you!"

"Mr. Peterson," the secretary said cautiously, "you were at Mr. Caelum's school, weren't you?"

"How did you know?" Oscar asked, bewildered.

"The incident... your insulting and threatening the child and his mother... it was livestreamed. Our stocks have plummeted," the secretary revealed.

Oscar's mind went blank. "The directors are here," the secretary continued. "They want you to return immediately. They intend to oust you." A chill ran down Oscar's spine.

Similarly, Camila's actions had been livestreamed. She received a call from Conrad's father, Zeke Turner. Before she could speak, his cold voice cut her off: "I'm sending someone for Conrad. My wife will care for him. Don't contact me again."

Camila's face contorted in fear. "Why? What did I do wrong?"

"Check the news," Zeke replied.

Camila discovered a torrent of criticism for her harsh words toward Jonathan and her boastful claim about Conrad's superiority. Her comments paled in comparison to the cruel insults she had previously hurled at Zeke's wife online.

"You supported me against my wife," she pleaded. "Why are you doing this? Don't you love me anymore?"

Zeke responded coldly, "Do you really think Zachary will let you off the hook? You'd better watch out." He hung up.

Camila tried calling again, but her calls went unanswered. Devastated, she sobbed uncontrollably. Her privileged life had abruptly ended.

Unbeknownst to Cecilia, her actions that day inadvertently aided another. The biased teacher was dismissed. The children were given a half-day off. Cecilia, Zachary, and Jonathan were escorted from the school by the headmaster. Outside, Cecilia saw Nathaniel waiting in a luxury car.

Zachary said, "Cecilia, I'll take Jonathan home. Call me if you need anything."

Although Cecilia disliked Zachary, she acknowledged his help. "Thanks for today," she said, handing him her bag.

"What's this?" Zachary asked.

"Vivian likes this. Give it to her for me," Cecilia explained, reasoning that since Zachary and Jonathan were going to Sinclair Manor, he could deliver it.

Zachary nodded. "All right." He mumbled to himself, "Vivian likes this kind of thing? How shallow."

Jonathan, remembering the livestream, checked his watch and was shocked.
