Chapter 632: Settle Scores
Nathaniel didn't want to continue ignoring Cecilia, but he couldn't accept her deception. โWhat if I am?โ he asked. โWould you be scared?โ
Cecilia was startled, unprepared for his question. Had he been his old self, he would have acted immediately. โIf I say I will, would you let me go?โ she asked, clenching her fists.
Nathaniel tightened his grip, his silence unsettling. He then released her, rising to his feet. His imposing figure cast a shadow that almost eclipsed the light. Cecilia calmed, sensing a threat. Even blind, he remained as ruthless as ever.
Tears welled in her eyes. She grabbed a stool, placing it before him as he started to leave. He bumped into it, frowning. โCecilia!โ
โYou wanted to settle scores,โ she warned. โThis is just the beginning. If you harm me, I wonโt let you have your way like before.โ Her resolve was firm.
Nathaniel was at a loss. He would have acted long ago if he'd truly intended to harm her.
Throughout the day, Cecilia worried about Nathaniel taking drastic action. Despite his blindness, she recalled his black cardโa reminder of his hidden secrets.
That evening, Elliot returned. Cecilia pulled him aside. โSweetheart, youโve been to your fatherโs company, right?โ
Elliot was puzzled. Why is Mommy asking about Daddyโs company? Is she worried Daddy will take Jon and me? โYes. Why?โ
โHow is it? Is it big?โ
Suspecting his mother's concern, Elliot downplayed his fatherโs business. โItโs not big at all. Daddyโs company only occupies one floor, smaller than our house. He doesnโt even have his own office.โ
Cecilia was surprised by Nathaniel's seemingly humble circumstances. So he was boasting when he said heโd settle the score? Relief washed over her, but curiosity remained. โIs Daddy hiding something? Like, a larger corporation?โ
Elliot was relieved he hadn't revealed the truth. Mommyโs questioning Daddyโs sincerity again. He cherished his preschool and family. โMommy, why not go with Daddy to his office tomorrow?โ
Cecilia declined. โNo. I have to compose music.โ
โMommy, donโt worry,โ Elliot reassured. โDaddy will run a big company in the future.โ
Touched by his affection for Nathaniel, Cecilia smiled. โI believe that.โ โLetโs have dinner,โ she said.
The evening was peaceful. However, Elliot insisted Cecilia sleep beside him. Cecilia knew she needed to teach him to sleep alone.
Meanwhile, at Felix's house, Miranda watched the livestream, furious. She'd intended to rebuke Jonathan, but instead, she'd inadvertently propelled him and Cecilia to fame. Anisa and Camila bombarded her with messages, demanding intervention and complaining about their own problems.
Miranda snapped back: โItโs not my fault youโre incapable of handling a simple task. Why should I care?โ
