Chapter 640: I Want To Be President

When Miranda saw Cassandra, she wasn't surprised. "What's up?"

Miranda, accustomed to posturing, had forgotten Cassandra's previous comments about her behavior. Cassandra ignored her attitude. "I'm here to check on Felix. Is he alright now?"

Mentioning her son unlocked a flood of anxieties in Miranda. She sat up. "He went to preschool today. The doctor said we must be very careful with him after his exposure to the cold." She sighed. "Felix is my only son. What if something happens to him?"

"I wonder how Cecilia raised her son," Cassandra remarked. "How could he deceive Felix into spending a night at that artificial hill? He's so cruel at such a young age. And who would have thought she's expecting twins again?" She emphasized the last sentence, aware of the implications for Felix's future bid to take over Rainsworth Group.

Miranda was shocked to hear about Cecilia's pregnancy with twins. Conceiving Felix had been difficult, requiring in-vitro fertilization. Cecilia's ease in conceiving another pair deeply irritated her.

Noticing the impact of her remark, Cassandra excused herself and left.

Meanwhile, after fixing her phone, Cecilia had breakfast before heading to the exclusive club for her meeting with the other mothers. In the ultra-luxurious private room, the affluent mothers were relaxing and chatting.

"Ms. Cecilia is so much wealthier and more generous than Miranda," one mother said.

"Exactly," another chimed in. "Miranda always hosts at her own home; she only wants to show off."

"I don't understand why Ms. Cecilia asked us here," another said. "Wouldn't it have been easier to give us the gifts directly?" The mothers chattered, only Priscilla vaguely understanding Cecilia's plan. After all, Priscilla had told Cecilia about the upcoming election for the parents' association president next Monday.

Priscilla considered whether to tell Miranda. Telling Miranda would ensure more attention for herself and her husband's business. However, if Cecilia became president, Priscilla would at most receive a gift, insufficient to help her husband.

After careful consideration, Priscilla used the bathroom as an excuse to call Miranda. Helen, a recipient of Cecilia's previous generosity, differed from Priscilla. Helen had dedicated her time solely to support Cecilia, who was the only mother who truly respected and helped her.

Soon, Cecilia arrived and asked the mothers to collect their gifts upstairs. They excitedly gathered their desired items.

"Ms. Cecilia, thank you. I'll transfer the money shortly."

"Yes! Thank you."

The mothers expressed their admiration for Cecilia's ability to obtain such exclusive bags and jewelry.

Cecilia stated her purpose. "I've gathered you for two reasons: to give you these gifts, and to ask a favor. Next Monday, a new president for the parents' association will be elected. I want that role."

Silence fell upon the room. Eyes met, but no one dared to break the silence first. Then, one mother stepped forward.
