Chapter 161: Money Is Not Short, But Links Are Lacking
In the livestream next door, Pamela checked her phone, a panic attack threatening. A lawyer's letter? Returning the $1.2 million was never in her plans; it was long gone. How would she repay it? She felt like she'd plummeted from a pedestal into a prison, this livestream a humiliating spectacle. Olive's arrogance, fueled by Elvis, was palpable.
"Pamela, what's going on?" Gwen asked, stunned and helpless, her gaze fixed on Pamela's pale, gloomy face. "Pamela, look! North's livestream is surpassing ours; our numbers are plummeting! Everyone's going to her!" Gwen lamented.
Pamela glanced at the screen. Their viewers were down to a handful, perhaps a quarter of North's. A knock came; Patrick rushed in. Excusing herself from Gwen, Pamela met him.
"Pamela, what's happening? Why is Olive demanding the $1.2 million back? What does she mean? The money's gone!" Patrick panicked.
"Dad, how did you spend it?"
Patrick sneered. "Didn't I invest in Hart's Medical? It wasn't profitable; I lost the capital!" Pamela found him increasingly displeasing. "Dad, Augustine Corporation sent me a lawyer's letter. If I don't repay the money, there will be legal consequences," she explained.
Patrick couldn't comprehend the swift change of fortune: from celebratory drinks and respect to a $1.2 million debt. The money, once a source of joy, now brought humiliation. Since Olive's return, the Harts seemed mired in perpetual trouble.
"I'll call Olive. I need to understand," he said, dialing her number. The call connected. Olive's voice, smooth and beautiful, filled the air. "Hello, President Hart, how may I help you?"
"Olive, the $1.2 million given to Pamela by President Augustine—I spent it. There's nothing left. Stop this. Ask President Augustine to void the letter. We're family; don't make a big deal of this!"
"Mr. Hart, to withdraw the case, you must return the medical book my mother left me," Olive countered.
Pamela snatched the phone. "Olive, what are you talking about? What medical book?"
"Pamela, stop pretending. Your father admitted to giving you my mother's medical book. I have it recorded, just in case."
Pamela turned to Patrick. "Dad, did you tell Olive you gave me the book?"
Pamela remained silent, her teammate outsmarted.
"Pamela, my mother's medical book has been with you all these years. Without proper training, it's useless to you, but that's your business. Return the book, or repay the $1.2 million. I await your decision!" Olive hung up.
Pamela's rage threatened to shatter her phone. The medical book was her life's foundation, her most prized possession. She couldn't return it. But what about the $1.2 million? She was in a terrible dilemma. Her big day, ruined by Olive.
In the livestream, North addressed Olive. "Olive, you're brilliant! Using the $1.2 million to get the medical book—amazing!"
Olive pursed her lips. "I'll deal with those idiots; they'll return the book." North gave a thumbs-up. Her livestream's purpose was selling her goods.
"North, what are you selling?" Olive asked.
North gestured to large suitcases. "Clothes, jewelry, shoes, bags—everything's for sale."
Olive was shocked by the sheer volume. "When will you sell them?"
North pondered. "I can't say, but the sooner, the better." Olive nodded; North's fashion sense was impeccable. She was the first to sport the latest international brands and LA's fashion week ambassador in Milan. Only Raven's schedule change necessitated this livestream.
North swiftly changed into a white suspender and black coat (about $500-$600). Her algae-like hair tied back revealed her bright face and charming eyes. She greeted her fans. "Hi cuties! Welcome to my livestream. First, let me introduce my outfit…"
"OMG! North's here!"
"No intro! We want to buy it!"
"This outfit is gorgeous! I have the money; I just need the purchase link!" The comments flooded in.
