Chapter 581: Hiding by His Legs

The old lady lay on the ground, crying. The door opened again, and two guards in black clothing entered, dragging her away. โ€œYour Highness has concluded the meeting,โ€ one announced. โ€œHe wishes to question you.โ€

Soon, the old lady was hauled before Logan. He had just finished his meeting, still preoccupied with capturing Thomas and his daughter, Trixie. He looked down at the old woman and asked coldly, โ€œWhat is your connection to Thomas and Trixie? Where are they hiding? Speak!โ€

The old lady gazed at Logan, fear evident in her trembling body. Logan narrowed his eyes, stepping closer. โ€œWhy do I find youโ€ฆfamiliar? Have I seen you before?โ€

Terror consumed the old lady. Her hands shook as she quickly lowered her head and slowly shook it. โ€œIโ€ฆdonโ€™t know you,โ€ she whispered, then coughed up blood, splattering it onto Loganโ€™s feet.

Enraged, Logan kicked her in the chest. A servant quickly knelt, offering a handkerchief to clean Loganโ€™s shoes. โ€œMy lord, the old woman isโ€ฆ I believe sheโ€™s dead.โ€

The old lady lay motionless. Logan waved his hand impatiently. Heโ€™d suspected she was someone he knew, but her death, and the blood staining his expensive shoes, had dispelled his doubts. โ€œThrow her in the mass grave!โ€ he commanded.

โ€œYes, my lord,โ€ the guards replied, carrying her away.

Olive remained in the palace. Sadie reported softly, โ€œYour Highness, the old woman is dead.โ€ Olive wasn't surprised; sheโ€™d felt the woman's life fading when she checked her pulse. โ€œDid she say anything?โ€

Sadie shook her head. โ€œNo. Though for a moment, Logan thought she looked familiar, she ultimately said nothing.โ€ Olive wondered if her earlier words had stirred a flicker of conscience in the old woman's heart. โ€œHave Aunt Annabelle retrieve her body from the mass grave.โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Sadie replied, quickly departing. Olive was about to leave when she heard approaching footsteps. Who was it?

Claraโ€™s voice, bright and clear, reached Oliveโ€™s ears: โ€œMr. Augustine, this is my mother, the Kingโ€™s wife. Sheโ€™s long wished to meet you and invited you to the palace.โ€ Mollyโ€™s voice followed: โ€œMr. Augustine, itโ€™s a pleasure.โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ Elvisโ€™s low, magnetic voice responded.

Oliveโ€™s eyelashes fluttered. Elvis was here, personally invited by Molly! Since arriving in Greenland, Molly hadnโ€™t acknowledged her, clearly indicating Olive held little significance. But Mollyโ€™s invitation to Elvis underscored his importance. Did Molly know something?

โ€œMr. Augustine, letโ€™s go inside,โ€ Molly suggested.

Olive swiftly opened a door and hid inside, just as she sensed the trio approaching. She quickly concealed herself under a coffee table. Elvis, Molly, and Clara entered.

โ€œMr. Augustine, please sit,โ€ Molly said. โ€œClara will get you coffee.โ€

Clara, even in her motherโ€™s presence, remained shy, gazing at Elvis before obediently making him coffee. Elvis, impeccably dressed in a black suit, started to sit, but then noticed a small white dress under the coffee table. Someone was hiding there!

He studied the hem of the dress, a playful glint in his eyes. Molly indicated a seat. โ€œNo need,โ€ Elvis countered, settling onto the dark red sofa before the table.

Olive remained hidden. She didnโ€™t want to be discovered, but Elvis had chosen to sit directly opposite. She looked up, her bright eyes meeting his.

Olive crouched by his leg, docile and soft, like a small puppy. Elvis gazed down at her with interest, like a master playfully teasing a servant. Olive was certain heโ€™d seen her all along. She was crammed into a tight space, embarrassed, his long legs dangling before her, their proximity making her cheek brush against his trousers. She wanted to move, but couldn't.

Then Molly spoke, โ€œMr. Augustine, Iโ€™ve invited you to discuss your relationship with my daughter, Clara. You know Clara greatly admires you. It was love at first sight. She wishes to marry you. Iโ€™m curious about your feelings. Do youโ€ฆ like Clara?โ€

Clara, making coffee, shyly looked at her mother. โ€œMum,โ€ she murmured, then looked expectantly at Elvis, awaiting his answer.

Oliveโ€™s heart pounded. Mollyโ€™s directness was unexpected. She couldโ€ฆmarry Clara to Elvis. Olive looked up at Elvis, who met her gaze. Everyone waited for his response.
