Chapter 604: He Only Has Her
Before Olive could finish speaking, Elvis reached out and knocked a vase from the table. With a crackling sound, it shattered. Olive was startled silent, unsure what sheโd even said. Why wouldn't he take another wife?
Elvis's chest rose and fell. If not for Lil' Nathan, he would have strangled her. She couldn't wait to push him toward another woman, to see him marry someone else. Did she have no heart? Besides, he hadn't been with anyone else in three years! He only had her. But he didn't want to tell her that now; his years of love were ultimately a mistake.
โNathan, choose. My time is limited!โ Elvis turned and left, his long legs carrying him away from the suffocating, depressing atmosphere. He felt on the verge of losing control.
Outside, Elvisโs tall, handsome form quickly disappeared, leaving Oliveโs words trapped in her throat. She looked at her son and said softly, โNathan, Mom and Dadโs story is complicated. Iโll explain later. Just know we both love you, and no matter what, weโll always be with you.โ
โYes, I understand,โ Lilโ Nathan nodded obediently.
Olive loved this son most. Though Nathan was her eldest, heโd left her at birth. She cupped his face, kissed his forehead, and asked, โNathan, do you want to stay with Mom or Dad? No pressure, just listen to your heart.โ
Lilโ Nathan considered before replying, โMom, I want to stay with Dad.โ
He chose Elvis. Olive was prepared; Elvis had raised him for three years, and theyโd endured the hardest times together.
โMom, I love you. Even though Dadโs old, has a volatile temper, and sometimes hits me, I canโt leave him. If I go, no one will be there for him.โ
Tears filled Oliveโs eyes. She nodded vigorously. โOkay, Nathan. Choosing your dad proves he cares for you. Momโs reassured.โ
Elvis, now in a Rolls-Royce, waited for Nathan. Soon, Olive and the boy appeared.
Elvis, unseen, watched a smile bloom on Oliveโs face, and a happy expression on her sonโs. He arched his brows, snorted coldly, and turned away.
The back door opened. โMom, goodbye,โ the little boy said.
Olive waved. โGoodbye, Nathan.โ
Elvis commanded, โGo.โ
The car sped away. Olive remained, watching until it disappeared, her heart heavy.
In the car, Elvis and Lilโ Nathan watched Olive in the rearview mirror. โDad, this is the last time,โ Lilโ Nathan said urgently.
โWhat?โ
Elvis looked at his son. Lilโ Nathan sat opposite, his aura solemn and dignified, like a CEO in a meeting. Arms crossed, he glared at his father. โNext time, I donโt want to see you strangling Mom. No exceptions.โ
Elvis scoffed, โDamn boy, youโre a stubborn white-eyed wolf!โ Heโd worked hard, being both father and mother, yet his sonโs heart belonged to his mother.
Elvis disliked Oliveโs hypocrisy. She showed love for Nathan, but what had she done? He wouldn't forget her abortion of their first child, nor that Nathan was born via a surrogate using her eggs. Why did she have to take Nathan away?
Elvis was in a foul mood; he and Lilโ Nathan entered a cold war.
Olive returned home to Leviโs cheerful greeting, โMom!โ
Kneeling, she hugged him. โLevi, where were you? I couldnโt find you.โ
Levi stuck out his tongue. โMom, I didnโt do anything bad.โ
โWhereโs Ivy?โ
โGrandma took her out.โ
โLevi, play by yourself. Iโm tired and going to bed.โ
โOkay.โ
Olive went to her room. Levi, watching her go, sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, grabbed chips, and began to eat, sighing.
Aunty Cora, entering with fruit, asked, โYoung master, whatโs wrong?โ
Levi pouted. โThis trip to the sea of clouds is a mess. Mom and Dad are stupid. Iโm worried.โ
Aunty Cora remained silent, used to his strange pronouncements. โYoung master, what next?โ
Levi munched on chips. โWhat can I do? Theyโre my parents. I have to help. I need to take action.โ
Olive felt depressed. Her engagement to Liam loomed, so she rested, preparing her mood. She studied the royal ancestral lineโs topographic map, deducing the location of The Ambassadorโs sword. Its drawing would mark the reappearance of the ancient Visionary kingdom.
