Chapter 605: Pregnant with Twins
Two days later, at the engagement party. Liam, king of Gold City, and Princess Olive of Visionary, were celebrating their engagement in a grand ceremony held within the royal family. Despite Logan’s persistent attempts to prevent the marriage, it had finally come to pass. He also harbored a long-held desire to meet Joyce. Consequently, the engagement party was meticulously organized, drawing all the Greenland nobles.
Molly and Luana, Logan’s favored concubines, were present, surrounded by flattering courtiers.
“Concubine Molly, your beauty remains unchanged after all these years. We long to learn your secret!”
“Molly’s innate beauty explains the king’s enduring affection.”
“Concubine Luana, six months pregnant and carrying the king’s highly anticipated child, your future status will surpass even his son. Remember us then.”
Luana gracefully acknowledged the compliments, her composure betraying a hint of pride. Normally, praising Luana in Molly’s presence would be avoided, but their alliance removed that concern.
Then, someone remarked, “Luana is six months pregnant, yet her belly is enormous—eight or nine months perhaps? Could she be carrying twins?”
Luana herself was taken aback. The doctor hadn’t mentioned twins, but now the suggestion sparked a hopeful thought. In Greenland, twins were considered a very auspicious sign.
Excitement filled her, and she turned to Molly. “Molly, please find a doctor. Perhaps I am carrying twins!” Molly, who knew the truth—the palace doctor had confirmed the twins early on—remained silent. She planned to use Olive to eliminate Luana’s twins. Logan’s subsequent rage and Greenland's condemnation of Olive, the unwitting accomplice who attacked two innocent lives, would serve Molly's purpose perfectly. Olive would be ostracized, making her easy to defeat.
“Luana, we must inform the king; this is momentous news,” Molly said, calming the excited Luana.
Just then, a cry arose, “The king, the King of Gold City, and the Princess of Visionary have arrived!”
Logan, king of Greenland, appeared in a striking black suit embellished with gold thread, looking refreshed. Liam, the King of Gold City and Olive’s future husband, was impeccably dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, handsome and elegant.
Olive, the last to enter, wore a white tulle mermaid gown that perfectly showcased her figure. She resembled a celestial being.
The hall erupted in praise. “The Princess of Visionary is breathtaking! Her presence captivates us all.”
“She radiates an undeniable heroic aura.”
Clara, present despite warnings from Logan and Molly, kept a low profile, the damage from the recent sex video scandal still fresh. The unfriendly stares were palpable. She suspected Olive’s involvement, and the contrast between Olive's triumphant arrival and her own predicament fueled her anger.
“Mother, look at Olive!” Clara whispered to Molly.
Molly glanced at Olive dismissively. “Clara, let her bask in the spotlight; the fun is yet to begin.”
Clara, eager for retribution, urged, “Mother, hurry! I can’t bear to watch her boast!”
Molly patted Clara’s hand, then approached Logan, smiling. “My lord, wonderful news! Today’s engagement celebration may be even more joyous.”
Logan, still awaiting Joyce’s arrival, inquired, “Molly, what news?”
Molly brought Luana forward. “My lord, observe Luana’s belly. She might be… pregnant with twins!”
Logan, startled, looked at Luana’s swollen belly. “Luana, is it true?”
Luana, now the center of attention, felt a surge of pride. “My lord, I’m unsure. Perhaps a doctor should examine me.”
“Call a doctor immediately!” Logan commanded, taking Luana’s hand. “Luana, sit down. You are my treasure! If you are carrying twins, you will be my heroine, Greenland’s great heroine!”
Luana’s lips nearly reached her ears. She slyly glanced at Olive, who remained silent and compliant. Luana’s triumphant look was met with Olive’s subtle lick of her lips. Tonight promised excitement.
Olive noticed Molly and Clara’s amused stares and felt their scrutiny.
Olive’s gaze shifted to Aaron, another guest. Unlike his mother and the concubines, Aaron seemed troubled by the news of Luana’s possible twins, instinctively stepping back.
